There's no better time than now to be thinking about next year's vacation, but with so many options to choose from, it can be difficult to select the perfect destination. Luckily, a popular British travel website has provided its top holiday hot spots for 2011.
Egypt secured the number one rank thanks to its perpetual summer climate, beautiful beaches, stunning pyramids and diving excursions. It is also a great place to bring the family, as there are a number of resorts that cater to guests of all ages.
An up-and-coming vacation destination is Djerba, Tunisia, which has an average of 300 sunny days annually. There are historical attractions like the El Ghriba synagogue, which is a 2,000-year-old place of worship, and pristine beaches with ivory sand where visitors can relax and soak up the sun.
Tropical spots continue to be a popular trend, as Porto Santo ranks number three on the list.
"With golden sands, great weather and an away-from-it-all vibe, this Portuguese isle was made for laid-back beach holidays," said the travel site. Porto Santo is considered to be a magical place, as its volcanic sand is believed to heal various aches and pains, making it ideal for the ultimate vacation relaxation.
