Close Enough for Us
The location of Glenferrie Lodge was a breath of fresh air. It was close enough to city central to do everything that we wanted to do, but far enough away to quietly retire every night. it ended up being fun to take the ferry everyday. We were skeptical about the shared bathrooms, but it turned out to be fine as they were spotless and not crowded at all. Consider this hotel for a good value in a quiet neighborhood.
The Kirribilli ferry is closest to the hotel, however the Milsons Point ferry or train will get you close enough. The travelers pass is a great deal as you will probably want to take the ferry almost every day.

Dirty hotel, awful housekeeping
The location was perfect - pretty leafy Kiribilli suburb and the hotel looked very cosy outside. To our great surprise, it was very very tired inside. We entered our room. What can I say..it was so tiny there was barely room for our luggage. The TV was covered with dust. The worst thing was that we found lots of hair on our bed linen. We requested hotel to change our sheets, which they did. For the hotel that claims to be a 3 star, I was expected to find a shampoo/shower gel, but there was none in the room. I had ask receptionist to give me some gel and to repeat this every night. We found the notice inside our room that the room will only be cleaned every 5 days and if we want (we were staying for 4 nights so our room was never cleaned during our stay). They promised to change our towels if we leave them on the floor, but when we left 2 towels on the floor they only changed 1. When I complained to the hotel mamanger, she told me that they probably didnt notice 2nd towel and that I should have made it more obvious for the staff. I am not sure how much more obvious 2 towels on the floor could be in the room approximately 2,5m x 2m. No apology given. The breakfast was a choice of full English breakfast or 3 types of cereals with milk. No variety offered. Would have never stayed there again. The location was great and people who dont mind sleeping with other peoples hair in their bed may find it a good base to stay in Sydney.

A Positive Review
the shared bathroom was always clean and usually unoccupied, theres other bathrooms located in several different areas of the hotel as well if you need it right away. a great place to stay on a budget. a short walk to kirribili wharf which will take you to circular quay in 6 minutes and from the quay you can go anywhere on the rail.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Heres big traveling tip: from the airport, take the ferry from circular quay to kirribili wharf instead of the train. the walk from the wharf with all your luggage will be much shorter than from the train and you will get a great views of the harbour and bridge as well. buy a "red travelpass" for a week to take most rails, buses, and ferry in the main city areas.
