Less Than Happy

When I booked the hotel I added a note saying I would be getting in early in the morning(most international flights do) and wanted to have a room ready. They never responded. When I got there the clerk kept insisting I was a day early and kept claiming it was the 21st not the 22nd of the month. He finally let it slip that it was the 22nd, but they weren’t going to let me have the room before normal check in time. I had to pay full price for the room, no discount and no breakfast, just to get a few hours sleep. That soured me on the hotel right away. If I had known before I got there, I would have just booked the extra day. Service was ordinary, nothing special. The people were civil, not particularly friendly. The buffet was worth the price and the hotel is very attractive and right in the shopping district. Probably a nice place but the last thing I want after being on a plane for 24 hours is trouble checking in. Their behavior was either sneaky or incompetent. At that hour the distinction wasn’t important to me.

Perfect hotel for short or long stays in Singapore

Royal Plaza on Scotts was the perfect hotel for my recent stay in Singapore. It is very reasonably priced and within easy walking distance of those venues I needed to access (Gleneagles Hospital, Mt. Elizabeth Hospital, Borders and Kinokuniya bookstores, etc.). The staff of the hotel are all impeccably helpful and polite. The hotel is 100% smoke-free. Congratulations, Royal Plaza! On top of all that, the rooms are clean and comfortable with free WiFi and there are free drinks in the mini-bar (a particularly thoughtful touch). It would be difficult to find any fault in the Royal Plaza experience. The Heat Ultralounge (restaurant/bar) is surprisingly good with reasonably priced meals and drinks - and special offers on certain days. The fitness center is adequate but a little small and under-equipped. One complaint in this regard is the difficulty I experienced in using the touch-screen commands on the running machine. There must be a special technique for touching the screen but I found it extremely difficult and tedious to change running speed, inclination etc. Why do organizations go in for these touch screen appliances when there was nothing wrong with the former, less tricky commands on regular machines? All things considered, this is the best value I have ever found in Singapore hotels.

superb

Found this Hotel to be Excellant, on arrival at the Hotel we were greated by the receptionist who informed us that we were to be upgraded to a suite on the club floor. The size of the suite was enormous with a large sitting area, boardroom, office area and a beautifull bedroom and bathroom. The club room was on the same floor and again the level of service was excellant in there as well.
