Macdonald Windsor Hotel

"This McDonald Hotel needs a definite updating. Much of it is outdated and tired looking. The staff and service were excellent and you can’t beat the location. The breakfast buffet was good, but could benefit by rotating items and providing more fresh fruit such as berries. The restaurant is only rated average for dinner with a very traditional and boring menu. The rear exit stair/lift is convenient for getting to Windsor Central train station and it surrounding restaurants and shops, but had an odd odor. An investment in a full renovation would go a long ways."

"Very disappointed to be visiting this hotel on this occasion. I stayed here about 8 years ago and it was a delightful stay; it looked grand and beautiful, but clearly there has been a change of ownership. The hotel looks very dated and unkempt and needs some tender loving care. Our room was clean to a degree, but unfortunately the bedside tables had dirty ring marks, the sash windows had rotten frames and paint flaking off, the glass windows were dirty, and there were no safety locks, so you could open them fully, and being on the third floor it is a good job we didn’t have any children with us because they could have climbed out and fallen fifty feet to their death. The double bed was actually two single beds pushed together and was very uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was functional but needs upgrading desperately as it had rusted shower and bath taps and the walls were patched up with paint, and the sash window would not open. The long mirror on the wall had not been rehung because it clearly had come off the wall at some point. There were only two tea bags provided to use and a small amount of coffee and cheap milk. The quality of the bath/shower and soap provided were not good. The two members of staff that I met were very pleasant, but that is the only positive from our visit. For the money I paid for a one-night stay, it was not worth the money unfortunately and I will not use this hotel again."

"Nice clean hotel near the castle and downtown. It’s easy to walk from the hotel to the castle, etc. They do not provide hair conditioner, wash clothes, or an use bucket/ ice machine for ice in the room."

"Very close to Windsor Castle and the shopping centre. Rooms were small and inaccessible to anyone with physical disabilities. We stayed on a Sunday and the bar closed at 8pm which is very early. Breakfast was adequate. Staff were were wonderful. Very helpful and welcoming."

"Enjoyed our two nite stay, convenient and centralized location, staff was friendly and helpful, no elevator so bellman had to lug our heavy luggage up the stairs, beautiful view of the Thames from the patio !"

"Our room was very spacious and quiet. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The restaurant was lovely and the food excellent. All staff were very helpful and friendly."
