I spent a week here in March 2018 (my birthday week) and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. From reception to checkout, the people at the Christiana are among the friendliest and warmest people in Zermatt. The receptionist’s name is actually Kcheery (pronounced cheery). The rooms are clean and the service impeccable. They have a beautiful bar and exceptional bar tender; their daily breakfast buffet is fresh and expansive and their restaurant top of class. Their cleaning staff is attentive and diligent.
The room I stayed in was spacious, had a balcony overlooking town and offered a magnificent view of the Matterhorn...and most importantly clean and bright. I was welcomed with a bowl of fresh fruit and water.
They have a beautiful pool, sauna and hot tub...and the best part is they have a separate kid’s pool so you can swim comfortably. The gym is admittedly a bit small, but who is coming to Zermatt to workout? There is a mountain full of exercise.
The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the tram that takes you to the mountain’s main lifts, so it is super convenient and a leisurely stroll away from town center. They will pick you up at the train station and drop you off there when you check out.
If available, this is the hotel I would stay at when traveling to Zermatt. I cannot recommend the Christiana enough. In fact, due, in large part to my experience at the Christiana, I returned to Zermatt this week for the unplugged music festival and, to my great disappointment,
