The hotel is charming if but a little quaint. How many hotels these days would hand you an actual metal room key instead of a card key? I am not sure forcing guests to carry around a metal key plus keychain is a good idea in these pandemic times! I am pretty sure these have not been carefully wiped clean with alcohol. Also, there does not seem to be any way to totally turn off the air-conditioning. This is decidedly both annoying as well as not particularly healthy.

It was a tale of 2 cities for the staffs. Staffs at the reception and B1 restaurant was incredible despite being very busy due to the lunar new year period. Very courteous and efficient. However staffs at the executive lounge was a big let down despite being under whelmed . There were only a handful of guests at the lounge for the 3 nights we were there but their attitude was really bad . You would think they should be the more senior ones who would be more courteous towards guests but their behaviour was like ‘you are lucky we are open for you”. It was probably the worst executive lounge I hv been to. The spread is adequate but the staffs’ unfriendly and passive attitude isn’t something you’d associate with a Sherwood.

Very soft mattress and interrupted sleep
We were so lucky to have the room in the 18th floor, windows facing to the city and mountain view. A nice touch is that fresh fruit red apple is provided every day in the hallway before walk through our room, the bathroom is well furnished, with a bidet quipped toilet, shower with good water pressure and reasonably size clean bathtub with bath salts. One thing very disappointed that the king bed mattress is too old and soft, we did not have good sleep, we requested for change a better mattress but the reception said they all have the same mattress in all rooms, but they can change your room for two single beds, still soft mattress and downgrade to level 8th floor with no view. We were suffering for five nights and would not recommend our friends.

This is an old 5 star hotel. Room is not very big, similar to other Taipei hotels. May be it is old, so no usb plug. You have to bring your adaptor.

We were supposed to get one king bed and one double bed. Instead, we got 2 single sized beds, and a small roll out bed which was not in a good condition at all. The length wasn’t long enough for any of us, and we are all average sized. We also noticed a smell when we walked into our room, like something you’d smell in a very old house. Very disappointed with this hotel.
