Well, I had read a few reviews on this hotel before I made the booking. Reaction of other fellow travelers was lukewarm at best, so I was not at all prepared for what I was confronted with after arriving.
The "room" was simply superb. The hotel is kind of non-conform, it cannot be compared with international chains in ANY respect. The service was NOT professional, that's for sure. Strassen is a sleepy hollow were you indeed cannot do anything, I do not deny it.
BUT for a price that would barely buy you 100 sqft of a boring "room" in Luxembourg centre or Kirchberg, in l'Olivier you will get a three storey apartment that contains: (on the base floor) sitting room, with dining area, separate kitchenette, guest bath room, AND a huge terrace with views open in three directions including woodlands and Luxembourg centre (one view opens into the backyard of a logistics firm, which is less cool, but no real harm). Middle floor holds a comfortable bedroom with plenty of unpacking space including cupboards, drawers, clothes racks etc. (actually the first hotel ever where I was able to comfortably unpack my full complement of trousers, jackets, ties, shirts, AND hiking gear etc.). The upper floor holds a small dressing room with another clothes rack that works as an antechambre for a huge bathroom with a large tube, hair dryer and washing machine.. The total area of the apartment must have been well over 600 sq ft, maybe close to 1000 including the terrace.
I will return for sure..
