An Excellent Chinese HotelPosted 16-Apr-2014
Pros: I think I covered that above but, to reiterate, it was clean, comfortable, charming, and an excellent value.
Cons: One of these days they should probably redecorate the halls and the rooms in a similar style to the handsome lobby.
Location: There are two stadiums nearby with events. There's a very neat design house building you can wander through. Three metro lines are quite close.
The Xinhui hotel is an excellent Chinese style hotel. By Chinese style, I mean that you should expect as rather firm mattress, which local belief holds to be more healthy, and that the decor may not be what you expect from a more internationally styled hotel. Also, since this is not a high rise in the increasingly vertical megalopolis of Shanghai, do not expect a grand vista from your window. But, the hotel staff is very friendly, even if your Mandarin is as bad as mine and presumably if you speak none at all. The rooms are completely clean. Everything is above board. And you can't beat the price. Plus it is in a rather interesting artsy area, not far from the excellent Shanghai Metro. It is also about a block's walk from a true local food market where I dare you to find another tourist.

Nice and warmPosted 25-Dec-2013
Overall for the rate is good. The staff is really nice although nobody spoke English which for me that is not a problem. Great laundry service. Tea was always available which made me happy.

Nice hotel...!Posted 03-Dec-2013
The hotel is located in Xuihui area which is approx. 14 kms away from the main Shanghai CBD. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Hongqaio airport for our domestic flights to Beijing and Shanghai tour bus centre for our day trips in Shanghai area. We really liked the location of this hotel due to the walking distance to many restaurants, shops, subway station and proximity to Xujiahui shopping area. The breakfast was nice with a decent mix of the food items including salads & fruits. No issues with the internet/wifi. All the facilities were at their basic comfort level. We would definitely like to select the hotel again. It is value for the money.

Clean & worthyPosted 08-Jul-2013
Pros: Convenient location near metro station, food, bus.
Location: Only 6mins walk from Metro Line 4 (Shanghai Stadium station exit no. 3).
I have stayed in this hotel umpteen times. Clean & well maintained for hotel of this category. Conveniently located only 6mins walk from Metro Line 4 (Shanghai Stadium station exit no. 3). Lots of restaurants, fast food, convenient store, supermarket nearby. Tourist bus centre at Shanghai Indoor Stadium is also nearby. As for the price, can be considered cheap.

Great locationPosted 12-Jun-2013
Pros: Location and cleanliness
This hotel was decently priced. Location was exceptional as it was located off the busy streets. For the money, it was very well worth it.

Good hotel for the price. Great staff.Posted 10-May-2013
Pros: The staff was fantastic. My luggage was stolen by my cab driver on arrival and the staff helped me file a report to the police. Super helpful!
Cons: Even the non-smoking rooms smell of smoke constantly from the smokers in the hall. If that bothers you, be aware of it. It's a problem.
Location: Safe, relatively clean location really close to the Shanghai Stadium and a giant Century Mart mall. There's a few restaurants but not a lot.
I stayed here three nights. The cheapest room was very basic with a bed, a desk, and a flatscreen TV. It's clean but very small.

Hotel advicePosted 16-Apr-2013
Pros: The staff
Cons: The noise and overcrowding on a few occasions. The view or rather the lack of it.
Location: Quite central with plenty of places to eat, drink and for supermarket shopping.
When we were shown our room (427) we noticed immediately that we didn't have the city view that was described in our itinery, our window looked on to a grey brick wall, we took this up with the desk manager who informed us that there were no city view rooms in the hotel. The carpet in the room was stained in several places. On 3 occasions we were kept awake by guests in other rooms and children running up and down the corridors till 3am, the manager apologised profoundly for this on the 3 occasions, also on these same occasions we had no breakfast as the dinning room was overcrowded, again the staff offered their apologies. On a plus side the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite well situated with several places of interest within walking distance. When we travelled to the main city areas the hotel staff would call a taxi and instruct the driver where we wanted to go.
