The hotel was recommended by one guide as a somewhat romantic throwback to the era of hunting lodges. This applies to the lounge which is nice and spacious. The breakfast too was good. And the location, close to the train station, next to the Fine Arts Museum, and close enough to the cathedral and other monuments, is great. That's about all that can be recommended. The rest of the hotel desperately needs a thorough face-lift. The stairway looks shabby. The floor in our room sloped and the rickety nightstands barely remained upright. Nothing to put suitcases on. The impression we got was that the staff do not care enough (although there are small signs of improvement in walls being painted). This was drastically confirmed by the attitude of the receptionist on our day of departure. We had been told that taxis arrive 10 minutes after being called. We called for a taxi 50 minutes before the departure of our bus but none arrived. The receptionist called again only after we urged him to do so, and again later. He kept blaming the taxi company and insisting on his innocence, but he could not care less, never came out to let us know the answer of the taxi company, and failed to tell us that we might just walk a short distance to the next street where, as we saw later, taxis were constantly circulating, many of them empty. As a result, we missed our bus and had to find a different way to get to the Paris Airport. This experience, though, was unique during our entire trip.
