The staff was great. They allowed us to store our luggage before and after check-in/out time. Any questions we had, they were graciously answered. They were friendly, and the hotel is right across the street from the Roma Termini (train station) which was super convenient.

Great location-steps from the Train Station!
Literally steps from the Train Station, Hotel Urbis is an absolutely fantastic location! However, this also makes for lots of noise & with no AC, you cannot close the windows in summer. The beds & pillows are very worn, bathrooms small, decor outdated & with no AC very hot. Despite the outdated rooms the staff is wonderful- all very friendly & accommodating, steps from the Train Station & walking distance for many of Rome's top sights.

This hotel wad border. Holes on sheets, broken springs in mattress and a cold dark feeling. Was 220.00 euro for 2 people two nights. Not really that cheap. Disappointed.

A stone's throw from the train station. Friendly and helpful staff. Street was quiet at night. Free luggage storage for a few hours (though unsecured in a corner of the lobby)

Great value! Comfortable, clean facility, although hot water proved to be challenging. Also, night staff wasn't aware of an extender for the internet router - w/o this information, internet in our room (farthest from the lobby) was poor.

Not worth it!
We chose this hotel because we got in late into Rome and we had an early morning train from Termini, so we just needed a place to stay that was close to the station. Yes, it's a stones throw from Termini but our experience was awful. The front desk didn't speak English, which isn't normally a problem if they understand the rules of business. He didn't understand that the hotel was prepaid through Expedia already and demanded I give him a credit card. At first I thought it was just for incidentals (although, this place was a dump, no incidentals) but he charged me the full price for the room I ALREADY paid for. In the morning, the manager assured us we would receive our money back but it's been a month and nothing has happened. Expedia won't even refund our stay. The room itself was scary, in terms of the bugs and the blankets were old and smelly. We had a bathroom and didn't use the shower, it was gross.

Hotel's location is great because it's really just 2 minutes walk to Roma Termini. The receptionist man during the day can speak English which is good. Most of the staff are friendly and ready to help. Our room is being clean everyday. Towels are really white and smell freshly wash.

This hotel was very easy to find and was just by the train station .This is a 3star hotel that is more like a 2 star. But for the price and location was perfect for us . The entrance on the street was not the best. We didn't intend to spend agreat deal of time here and our 4 nights were OK. If you need some where to stay that is handy to the train station and your on abudget then this would be fine.

Fairly shabby hotel but right next door to Roma termini. The rooms were reasonably clean, though, and if your #1 priority is a budget hotel close to the train station, this is a fair option.

The room smelled of cigarette. It improved though when we mentioned this to reception. The receptionists are nice and welcoming. Location is excellent as just infront of the Roma Termini station so was able to get to tourist areas very quickly.

Hotel close to the railway and bus lines
The hotel was hidden away on the second floor of a building containing multiple hotels. Even though there was a sizable sign out front there was virtually no markings inside the building leading to the front desk. The first clue was the room key had a different hotel name on the key chain and the room number was whited out and rewritten. The room was disappointing. Handles were missing from doors, shower doors barely worked, the refrigerator didn't work, the cabinet for the refrigerator was badly damaged, the room safe didn't work and wasn't bolted down, and most of the light bulbs were missing. The hotel staff was unable/unwilling to resolve any of the problems. This wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed at. It was clean and the maid service did a good job, but there was no way to ask that the room wasn't disturbed during our stay. The room was close to the transportation hub and the price was affordable. Had the owners/staff done some maintenance the hotel/stay would have been more agreeable.

Basic hotel in good location.
The hotel is basic, shared bathroom, no kettle etc in room. Right by the termini which was perfect. My major concern was the stair well up to the hotel, which was quiet at night. I had paid the same as friends who were staying in a hotel very nearby that had more facilities. I'd probably recommend you shop round first before booking.

Grotty
This hotel was seedy and grotty. I don't think we were expecting a palace as it wasn't too expensive for area but it didn't meet our realistic expectation. It was advertised with air con and breakfast in fact neither were included. The electric and light switches were malfunctioning and hanging off. There was an air con unit on the wall but we were told we had to pay an extra €10 for it. The wiring of this unit was frayed so we didn't dare pay for it. The bedspreads had cigarette burns on them and looked unclean. The shower was broken with no wall attachment. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. Awful

No air conditioning in the room - if you are in Rome in the summer, you would melt. The hotel is very central, which is excellent, though. The communal bathroom is quite disgusting, and not at all hygienic. The room itself was fine - but for the lack of air-conditioning it would have been fine.

Worst experience EVER
Where to start? The wifi didn't work in the room, when I complained, I was told it only worked in the "lobby", which was shabby and gross. Then the 13" CRT TV wouldn't turn on, when I complained, I was given another clicker, which of course didn't work. The shower handle was broken so you had to hold it all through the too hot then freezing shower. Finally I gave up and just went to bed. The bed was vastly uncomfortable and the pillows smelled of cigarettes. I couldn't wait to get out of there! Had I not spent so much I would have booked another hotel that night instead.

Good location, poor facilities
The hotel Urbis is very well located and is a stones throw (literally) from Termini station. This makes getting around very easy when using the hotel. Now I have the positives out of the way, here are the negatives - The room we booked had a shared bathroom which looked as if it was being shared by 4 or 5 rooms. The general standard of this bathroom was okay with a shower and a toilet but was unclean and that included multiple rouge hairs laying around. It was also quite difficult to get in the bathroom unless you planned to get up and beat the rush! To the room. The beds were comfy enough and the double glazed window meant that the noise from the streets below was kept to a minimum. However, it had a weird odour to it and also came with cigarette burns on the covers and on the bed side table. We only stayed there one night, which was more than enough I can assure you. For the price range it is in you can do a lot better. The metro and tram network mean that being slightly outside of the city centre isn't the end of the world.

The location of this hotel was fantastic, so close to the station and easy for getting about. The hotel was basic, clean and had hot water, the staff were friendly and were happy to keep our bags after we'd checked out. The room had a fridge which was useful for keeping breakfast in. The room was dark and cramped as there were four of us sharing.

Hotel opposite train station but up a side street
Very off putting to start with. Up a side street and then up on the second floor. The reception area very run down and staff dont speak english but quite friendly. Room awful, needed updating years ago. Damp on the walls, three beds in the room, one collapsed, one had a large metal frame where you kicked it everytime you walked by it and all the beds had blankets!!!!! The pillows were stained too. TV was a portable one about 20 years old and on a wall hinge that was held on with a piece of string so lived in fear of it falling off. Furniture real grotty. Having said all of this it was very cheap, surprisingly quiet and we slept very well and was surrounded by cheap cafe bars. Everything is within walking distance (Colosseum, 20 minute walk).

The bed was clean that's why we stayed, the room was dirty and looked as though it hadn't been decorated for years. The rooms we booked with private bath room was not available, which was the same for a family who came in two nights after us, there was 1shower room for what seemed to be the whole hotel, with a broken base, however the water was hot. The window in the room could be opened but the shutters on the outside couldn't. The free wifi did not extend further than the reception area. The sockets in the room ws hanging out of the wall.

Air Con: look out for additional charges
This room was quiet and clean but a little dated -- sort of what you expect in Rome for that price. Good location near the station. But the shower screen was broken and faulty. The main problem was that I was charged extra on arrival for air conditioning -- 15 Euros per day (on top of city tax). This felt like a rip-off as I'd already paid for the room and I felt that I had no choice -- it was 38 degrees in Rome at the time. Even though I paid out for the 2 days I was there, the airconditioning unit didn't actually work properly and dripped water into the room all night. Note: Make sure that the cost of air con is included in your fee or spend more on a better hotel!

Right opposite the central termini station great location. Looks abit intimidating when you enter downstairs, and the desk staff didnt really speak any English. The bathroom at the end of the hallway was in quite bad condition. The room was ok and even had a fridge but got very noisy at night with mo peds flying past til the early hours. For the time I went it was much cheaper than any other hotel in the area and I have stayed in plenty of similar hotels across Europe. It doesn't really bother me I just see a hotel as a base somewhere to get your head down but if you are a picky person don't stay here.

An absolute disaster
Other than the fact that it is right across the train station, everything else is terrible about this hotel. * The basin plumbing in the room leaked, with water running around. * The window curtains would not close, so people across the street could see our room - absolutely no privacy. * Although the description claims to have wi-fi in the rooms, the signal was so weak that all the guests gathered in the reception to get any working signal. * There was only one bathroom for the whole floor, so it was very crowded. And the door for the shower was broken, so whenever someone took a shower the bathroom floor got flooded. * A poster on the reception desk said shuttles could be booked for the airport. We booked one with the receptionist in the morning. When we came back in the evening and asked for our shuttle, another person sitting at the reception said they don't have anything that day, and told us to get a taxi ourselves from the street.

Big room for 2 people on 2nd floor (18)...bathroom is well maintained and has tub..very average bed condition..kettle not provided in room..stayed for 2 nights..good staff...2 min walk from Rome Termini station..small lift available..charges for air-condition is extra and is around Euro 13/night...in summer it is hot and adds it to the cost..I would prefer staying in hotel called WRH Termini which is near by rather than staying here....Euro 2/person/day city tax to be paid to hotel directly..

We had booked the hotel for 2 nights through expedia, but unfortunately when we reached hotel mentioned that hotel is overbooked and there was no room. I then had to accomodate with other family as we had 4 booking for that night. There was no spare blanket that they can provide, room that i would not like to stay in and nor was the bathroom clean. It was not possible to communicate in english with the staff. Stay away from this hotel if it was me.

Very convenient for the mail Rail Station and Metro System - 5 mins walk. When I booked I did not realise it was a 'bed only' hotel however there are plenty places close by where breakfast can be had. For two nights I was disturbed by noise from a group of young people, nothing too serious and I was able to get to sleep by 1-00pm. Hot water was not always available in the mornings or evenings. The communal wash/toilet facilities could be improved. No shower door resulting in a very wet floor, toilet seat broken etc. Overall the hotel was adequate for my stay.

Not Great for Families
Travelled to Rome with my 9 year old son and found that although the hotel was clean and staff very friendly. The experience was not great at all. There was no heating and when I asked staff to put this on I was told they couldnt because the manage was not around. We had no heating throughout our 4 day stay.It was very cold and my son who is asthmatic caught a cold. there was also no hot water for the last 2 days of the trip so we could not have a shower. Not great at all for children and actually for adults too. When we booked the hotel we also did not realise that bathroom and toilet are NOT ensuite, so be prepared. The hotel is more like a hostel. Extremely disappointed and wished we stayed somewhere else
