Great location for the price
We live in Rio (Copacabana) and know the city well. This hotel is strategically located in Barra. Near one of the prime restaurant and going out areas. Near one of the three shopping areas. Perfect location! Property itself is in good condition and rooms are same. One especially thing, the impressive size of the room! Large bedroom/living room/kitchenet. Truly nice! And staff were very friendly. Would stay here again in future and recommend it!

Very good hotel
Pros: excellent customer service by front desk and breakfast staff. Quiet, nice pool, close to the malls. Good breakfast. Cons: housekeeping staff seemed lazy. Did not clean my room twice during my stay, never replaced my little soap and shampoos, often did not provide towels. Air conditioning stopped working after my 2nd day. Not really much at the area. Same exact breakfast daily. If you want to go to the beaches of copa and Ipanema, will take 20 minutes by car; airport is 45-50 without traffic. It's quiet there.

First suite was fifth floor beautiful view of the mountains but no hot water. After two days we requested a move. Second room 3rd floor no view but HOT water. Staff very helpful, all spoke english. Shopping mall across the street, likewise grocery store.

Nice hotel in a convenient location
This is a good hotel that could be great with a little TLC and initiative. Pros: Breakfast, internet, pool, walking distance to beach (about 12 min), jogging path, location (right on main bus line including express buses to airport, across the street from "Barra Downtown" mall). Cons: Pool only has hours from 9am-5pm, no hot tub, fitness equipment needs some repairs, computer printer not working, the neighborhood was fairly dusty due to nearby bridge construction, very little helpful information in the room (especially in English). To prepare for the Olympics, I think that they need to prepare some FAQ sheets in English, and put these in the rooms and on the web. They should also have Rio maps available to guests. I don't speak Portuguese, but was still able to figure out things like: 1) Two premium bus service lines (routes 2018 and 2918, with AC and wife) go from GIG to very close to this hotel, for about a 10th of the cost of a taxi, 2) several inexpensive bus lines can take you from this hotel to Ipanema or Cococabana or to Barra Shopping or to the Alvorada bus terminal, 3) there are free ferries to take you across the canal that is between the hotel and the beach (though you can walk around, too), 4) the "small" mall across the street, called Barra Downtown, has lots of very good food options and shopping, too. So I was able to get around fine, but it would have been easier to have this sort of information ahead of time or at my finger tips.

Staff were friendly and spoke a little English . Room service was a bit of a challenge with the language . Hotel was situated well for my business at Rio Centro convention centre and 1/2 hour away from Copacabana beach in the other direction

hotel made this an awesome holiday. the beaches are beautiful. barra da tijuca is the best beach because it is quiet. good for surfing but in places some strong currents flags are put in the places to mark out dangerous currents. good lifeguards. ipanima was an awesome beach but was really loud, still great fun, patrolled by helicopter every 15 minutes scanning the area for people out of their depth in the ocean. great watching people play volleyball, football volleyball and bat and ball over the nets. their really good. people were so friendly. one woman warned us to keep an eye on our possessions and came over to talk to us including to tell me to remember to wear sunscreen. both was helpful advice as never had anything stolen or victim of crime, so just the sunscreen. attractions were great. sugar loaf mountain, christ the redeemer, tjuca forest and the botanical garden we visited were great. some great holiday snaps. talking to locals was great always friendly and go out of their way to help you i.e. directions. we only discovered the shopping district next to the mall on the last few days which is great for buying nice clothes and shoes, as well as restaurants which we didn't try but there is a burger king that lets you top up your drink every 10 minutes. the water in the gym as well as by the pool was useful, no need to buy mineral water as was filtered and cool so you could just top up a bottle and take it with you. breakfast was good, digital cable, pool was amazing.

We went on a travel to a Convention. On the map the hotel looked like near enough the Riocentro Convention Center, but it wasn´t. The price paid and the extra expenses in transportation would be better used in a different hotel, next to or near the Riocentro area.

Nice hotel to stay a couple of nights. Good location, and you have a nice mall just across the street. Nice staff. The breakfast could be a bit better, but it wasn't bad.

Great location, but not much else.
The staff was very courteous and the location was convenient to restaurants, shopping and the offices of the clients I was visiting. However, the air conditioning was horrible. It did not work at all in the first room and i ended up switching rooms at around 11:00 PM after i realized the unit was blowing but it kept getting hotter. After a long day of work, a long day of travel and then another work day, the last thing i wanted to do was re-pack and change rooms at 11:00 PM. The staff was nice but the new room was only marginally better. The nest morning I had no hot water to shave or shower. The views were good, the facility was clean and the breakfast was good. However, if you want to rest comfortably in your room after a long trip, this is not the place for you.

A car is needed, better for business
A nice hotel, clean, soft and nice pool area. good parking area. I stayed only one day to visit a person living nearly there, but I notice if you stay as tourist, you'll need a transportation to go to the beaches and other addresses at Barra da Tijuca.

No hot water in the bathroom, I had to ask 2 times to fix it, IN TWO DAYS. And air conditioner was not working in the second day. Positive point is that I called to reception and the staff worked quickly to solve the issues...

I stayed at the Promenade Paradiso for a week & it was good value for money. It met all my expectations except one - It advertised a bar & published opening times but it never opened... I was there for a conference at the Windsor Barra Hotel which was a 10-15 min taxi ride away but we found that it took only 5 minutes to walk to the Windsor (& the excellent beach in front of it) by heading through the grounds of the apartment complex behind the pool. The gates were manned & there was a boat crossing of the grand canal which was free for anyone staying at the Promenade Paradiso.

Rio hotels are all incredibly overpriced but do yourself a favor and spend a bit more on a different hotel. The hotel is old and not well maintained. The bellman were eager to assist but the rest of the staff made little to no effort despite the multitude of issues experienced during our stay. Everything from the phones and wifi not working, to no hot water, to even arriving back at the hotel one day to discover the lock on my door was not working. Overall incredibly disappointing particularly when considering the nightly rates.

Very far from Copacabana and Ipanema
A comfortable small suit in a mayor avenue in Barra-Tijuca area. Close to a shopping mall but very far from Copacabana and Ipanema beach and other mayor tourist attractions. Taxis are more that 40 dollars to go anywhere fun. From the business side it was great I was able to get to my conference on time and the room was big with a living room area.

A mixed bag
Short walk (10mins) to Barra de Tijuca beach via quiet route (exit via hotels back gate and take free ferry). Short walk to local shopping centre. Staff friendly and helpful, room of adequate size and clean, pool well maintained and good food. Air con. works well. Some signs of wear to exterior of one of the blocks which is currently under repair. Principal negative is the 8 lane motorway outside the front of the hotel's guarded compound. This can get very busy generating plenty of noise audible by the pool. Noise was not such a problem from my room on 4th floor - couldn't hear it above the hum from the two air conditioning units!

I use to live three blocks from this hotel and used it in business. This was the first time I stayed in it myself and really enjoyed the hotel and breakfast. I will return.

terrible location
avoid this hotel at all cost: location is terrible and it's extremely difficult to commute to other locations in Barra by car, on foot or by public transport. The hotel looks conveniently located on the map, but the problem is there's no easy way to the beach and you need a big detour, around 2.5 kms. You also need detours if you want to reach restaurants/bars in Barra too. The only place closely located (5 min walking) to the hotel is the mall on the other side of the highway, with the Porcao restaurant in it. DO NOT take the taxis that the receptionist will order for you, since they charge like double the standard rate - order a taxi on your own instead using the EasyTaxi mobile app. Internet is free but pretty much non-existent, I stayed in the hotel for a week and the internet quality was poor all the time, with a 24+ hours period of total lack of internet access due to whatever problems. Avoid this hotel, book a hotel close to the Barra beach where restaurants are easy to reach

I was attending a meeting at the Windsor Baja hotel which was $268 per night hence my choice to stay at the Promenade. I still paid $225 per night. For this price i stayed in a Suite... I thought it would be decent... the room was really small, small bathroom... I was on the side of the busy road, not really pleasant..In Brazil you pay prime rates but the offering is really below average. Breakfast buffet included each, decent. Internet was also included however always very unstable. Gym is limited, no towels. Overall really average, i would not stay there again.

The is a nice hotel but does not have American amenities that you find at the big chain hotels. I recommend the suite and make sure you pay for the breakfast ahead of time.

Great affordable hotel
This hotel was a great option during Carnival because it was affordable, comfortable and located on a main road. Getting into Rio and Ipanema etc... was very easy by bus or taxi. We found that the mall across the street had some great outdoor eating spots and convenient to get to. The staff was very accommodating to us, they let us keep our luggage till late in the evening after we checked out and they let us use their shower facilities at the gym to change when we came back from the beach, even provided us with towels. This was really great, because our flight home was at 10pm in the evening. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheaper option to staying in the city or in the Ipanema/Copacabana beach area.

Went for Carnivale and opted to stay 15 min from the city to save some money. The hotel is very nice. Great pool, jacuzzi, the rooms are comfortable and clean. Breakfast is included and was great. Only negative is the service. The receptionist (woman) was most likely the rudest person I have ever encountered in the service industry. She would not answer simple questions (restaurants near by, do you have a map?), gave us a hard time if she did give us an answer and constantly made rude faces to us. Not sure how or why her job is to be the receptionist at a hotel. She made us feel very uncomfortable and not welcome. That was the only downside to our stay.

Nearly Paradise
We stayed for 6 nights during the Carnival season 2013. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and serviced us in English and alana who was particularly very helpful. he room was rather small with two beds but it was on the quiter side and away from the very busy highway next to the hotel, so we did not mind. The breakfast was included, which was very good. We had some housekeeping problems which were resolved very promptly. There was complimentary WiFi. The hotel was in a very secure and safe area though a bit far from the airport, City and other well known tourist attractions but well connected with all tourist attractions by a superb bus and Metro system that wasmost convenient, cheap and fast way. A bautiful beach is only 15 minutes walk with a ferry crossing. Ask for complimentary ferry crossing cards at the front desk. Our flight departure was early in the morning. The front desk arranged for our wake-up call, taxi and advance breakfast. Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back preferably facing the pools. See more room tips
