I was so sorry to see that this guest had a negative experience here at the Inn when we see so many positive reviews. For anyone reading this review, this is certainly an isolated incident and one triggered by very bad results in the past. The breakfast cook mentioned here on this morning came to me first thing when I arrived and told me she had experienced a negative interaction with a guest and that she felt bad, that she perhaps had over-reacted but had jumped to past conclusions when she saw the inn tavern full of smoke and a guest attempting to do something to the fireplace. In the past, we have had many issues with guests who "own a woodstove" or have "a lot of experience with fireplaces" that resulted in the fire alarm going off and the building being evacuated while we all stand outside waiting for the fire department to arrive. We even have a sign at the fireplace that is quite often ignored that states to please have an employee attend to the fire. The cook was motivated to ensure the safety of our guests and just assumed this guest had cause the issue, which was an error on her part. I apologize for the error in judgment, but I do not apologize for an employee being concerned for the safety of all of our guests. If a guest is here and experiences smoke or any other issue such as the fire running low, I would hope they would just go to the front desk or alert any employee that there is an issue and not attempt to rectify the situation themselves. A guest could easily get burned while attempting to address the fireplace.I did walk around and talk to guests sitting in the Tavern that morning hoping to speak with this guest and discuss what had happened, but I did not encounter anyone who had any idea of the smoke issue and I did not know what room the guest was in or who the guest was, so I was at a disadvantage to speak with them.So in conclusion, I am sorry this guest did not feel welcome or that she was addressed rudely, but the safety of our guests is the most important issue to me.I would hope that rather than immediately posting a negative review online, a guest would take the time to call me and allow me the opportunity to address the situation in person.Rick Trahan, Innkeeper

Sorry you had an issue with the water, for whatever reason, a few of the older showers have the controls mounted wrong, so you don't get hot water unless you turn it the other way. Front Desk should have known to explain that to you. Looks like you enjoyed the rest of your stay, we hope to see you back and we will make sure you have hot water!!

Hello - glad you enjoyed the new mattresses we just put in all of the guest rooms, and you also enjoyed your dinner. I have just hired a new Assistant Innkeeper and her primary focus will be on the guest rooms and cleanliness. Give us another try!
