The beach and grounds were amazing, much better than the other resorts we saw in that same area. The buildings are a bit run down but comfortable. Amazing views from ocean facing rooms. Food was average, but had a lot of options at the buffets. Overall I would go back based on the pools and beach- which is where we spent most of our time anyways!

The staff were all great and friendly. Some of the utilities were very outdated and needing maintenance. Our bathroom toilet wouldnt flush properly, our bathtub water faucet wouldnt stay attached, some of the public toilets throughout the facility wouldnt work or flush properly.

The outside of this property was kept in beautiful condition. The rooms are in disrepair and a lot of things in the rooms were broken and old. The air conditioning didn’t work half of the time, so the room got pretty warm. The sliding doors were extremely hard to open/close. There is only a couple options for shopping. The days that they had outside vendors, you are hounded each time you walk past. They did have a lot of food options, however the freshly made options were met with extremely long lines. I asked for a refill of coffee one morning, and a supervisor took my FULL cup out of my hand and told me they were out of coffee. Hotel casino was a complete joke! There were only a few slot machines and a couple of card tables. Nightly entertainment was subpar. I do not recommend this resort and REMEMBER that you get what you pay for.

It was a very realxing. Wasnt overly busy and i love the water park for the kiddos. The pools were lovely! Food was alright. I wish there were better snack options during the day.

I loved the property and the staff but the food was very subpar. The restaurants were good but you were only allowed 3 reservations and it was a hassle getting reservations because most of them are full. The buffet left a lot to be desired, the meat tasted funky and the food was very bland. The staff was great and service was great as long as you tipped. Overall, I would love to return to the resort but will not be because of the insufficient amount of nutritious food that tasted good.

Avoid this hotel, even if it is a cheap one. We have to change rooms two times, first one was leaking used waters from the bathroom's floor, second one had a bad air conditioner. Cockroaches in the buffet dining area. Not reccomended pay a little more and avoid inconveniences.

This was our 4th time visiting the DR and our first at Occidental Caribe. We chose it for its affordability despite some of the negative reviews. I’m giving It 3 stars as it is just average, not above and beyond, which is fine for the price. The main issues were check in lines (it was a nightmare) and dinner reservations. We went every morning for reservations and were told they were booked (and he was quite rude about it). The beach was beautiful with the softest sand, although not enough seats and way too many people saving seats and not showing up. The pool was very nice as well, and the snack bar was really good. The staff was friendly for the most part, although getting a drink at the buffet was hit or miss. The buffet was delicious, loved it! We did pay for a lobster dinner on the beach which was delicious and well worth the extra money. We also paid for a couples massage that was very affordable. It was a light massage but relaxing. The room was nice and cool, but the bed was hard. The music is loud all day so if you’re spending much time in your room and need quiet (I had to work a bit) it’s not great. Also majority of staff, including front desk staff, did not speak English. We managed and didn’t mind, but thought I would note it in the review. We had stayed at a much more expensive resort (majestic) for the few days prior to switching and much preferred Occidental Caribe, so despite some of the negatives, for the price we were very pleased.

Was a great resort. Staff was sooo friendly and nice. Food was good and plentiful. Resort was clean and beautiful. The fresh Lilly’s was amazing to smell when we went for the buffet. We got upgraded and they put rose pedals on our bed a couple days. Front desk staff was friendly, kind and helpful. Highly recommend this place. We all had a great time!

The rooms were very run down. Dresser drawers were broken, lost power several times. The buffet food was terrible. We had to ask for clean towels every day. They would take our towels but didn't give us new ones. Staff was not very nice. One of the people in our party sustained an injury and had to go the hospital and the resort never even contacted them to see if they were ok but did charge them $210 at the clinic. Save your money and find another resort!

I never reviewed anything so far in my life! DONT come here if you want to eat food! The food is awful! Called Expedia while here and they said to meet a woman went to “guest services” she left no woman anymore. Can’t get food in the “a la carte” stand in lines for dinner each day to make reservations?! Yea ok 9 pm! Toilet didn’t flush, mouse in the room, wake up to a roach in the bathroom! Oh did I mention the power outages?! Wait till that happens! Shuts the whole place down! Don’t take the elevator you’ll be stuck! Entertainment? Great!!! That’s the only thing about this place that’s good! That’s it! Get food if you’re coming here because you will be starving and that’s coming from people who are not picky and save for a year for 1 good vacation. The property itself is stunning on the outside till you get to your room! Just wanna cry honestly! Never again ever! Please consider what I am saying. Please go someplace else! The food is lathered in grease. Please please listen to us!!!

The property wasn’t as clean but we made it work. We were taken care of by Milly Rijos (concierge). She was amazing. Anything we needed she took care of. Pillows, reservations, pool chairs, anything we asked she would make it happen. She is the reason why our stay was above average. The resort itself is below average but if you ask for Milly Rijos she will take care of you like family. She is amazing!!

It’s a nice area and most of the staff are nice but they definitely do NOT care when you have an actual problem. Stayed 6 days. Day 1 broken AC and a steady water drip coming from the bathroom ceiling. Called the front desk for someone to fix it and nobody showed. Called again and again and they just didn’t care.

We like the staff. They are very nice and accommodating. The food was edible but wasn’t good at all. It was bland. The restaurants were okay. They have another connecting hotel same name but it says Punta Cana and that place is better with food and rooms. We came with a group and we had fun but I wouldn’t go back.

My husband and I travel a lot, and stayed at expensive hotels and cheaper hotels. This hotel wasn’t that cheap however it was by far the worst hotel that I’ve stayed in. There wasn’t a big variety of food to eat and what was there to eat was so not good(to us) they did have a few things that were edible. So don’t expect the best food while you’re there. Another thing that I did not like that I’ve never experienced was, workers are very aggressive about selling their product. Even when you tell them no thank you they’re still all in your face and very aggressive, and they were all over the hotel. My husband and I found ourselves walking the long way to go to activities just to avoid them. I do understand that this country the people do not make a lot of money which is one of the reasons why we try our best to tip everybody that we can. It was over the top, almost uncomfortable. Another negative that we seen multiple roaches in the dining area. If you decide to stay here, make sure you get up early in the morning to reserve your special dining and also to get a spot at the beach or at the pool. The pools, and beach is very beautiful, very clean and all excursions except for a few are offered at the hotel. Our room wasn’t too bad. We did find multiple stringy hairs all over and I don’t have stringy hair. Also bartenders and waitresses were very kind and willing to teach you a little Spanish which I loved.

The layout of the property is good. The beach is amazing. Good amount of trees for shade. Entertainment was good . Needs improvement: housekeeping, proper signage at buffet, reliable consistent quality food at buffet, service at buffet, many more chairs at pools as if you aren’t saving something early you won’t get shade or umbrellas, consistent towels available to change over used towels at pools.

My husband and I travel 2-3 times a year to all inclusive resorts, this by far the “worse”! Food was “ horrible”, only decent food was the hamburgers at the pool bar. Not enough serving tongs at the buffet, and they constantly ran out of food. You were lucky to get a glass of water, and napkins. Only one morning they had hand sanitizer at the buffet. Most of the time only “ one” bartender at every bar, super long lines. They ran out of beer today at all bars. Most of the staff were rude and passed the buck if you wanted any service. The specialty restaurants were very unusual food choices. Not enough sun loungers, everyone scrambled to get up before 6:00 am to get a sun lounger. Such a big disappointment and a waste of hard earned money. Experianneeds to take this off their website!!!

The place itself is pretty, there are two big pools and lots of other activities. The beach is pretty big compared to the neighbour hotels. The have good and high cleaning standards, the beach was cleaned daily. The food was avarage, I had food poisoning on the last day and there was no much choice of food. The restaurant were horrible, mainly for the service. We been to 4 out of 6 restaurants and we walked out from one. For a tiny starter, one main and dessert we waited for nearly two hours and they were not even fully booked. Unfortunately what this place lost the most was the service from most of the staff, at the buffet you would be able to find a cleaned table unless you ha to fetch someone to ask to clean it, most of the time we had to do it our selves. If you were asking them some drinks or anything else they would say “yes coming in a minute” and never came or make faces and seemed annoyed. In one of the restaurants, the seafood, we had most of the order served wrong and we mentioned at the waiter especially after waited for 2h hours. The next day a supervisor approached and said “we apologies for last night, our manager will give you a compensation” and we never heard or received anything. At the bars you would have either being ignored or if you would tip at every drink you ask they would give you a terrible drink. At the check out we were not even asked how was the experience. Overall the experience was fine but mainly for the sourrounding

Beautiful beach and pool areas. Felt safe, quiet at night, no noise from hallways or above. Comfy beds, pillows not so good. Good number of chairs by beach, maybe more needed by pool area. Tv not working and took several days to get it fixed after 4 requests. Maid entered bathroom even tho shower was running resulting in awkward situation. A/C not working properly--hard to sleep, asked for fan--not available. Very long lines at Buffets, bars, guest services, check in and out. Our friends that booked thru Expedia got a welcome letter and free bottle of liquor and other special services and our room did not. No screen door on patio doors. No wash cloths provided. No daily schedule of entertainment, buffet themes or events. No current map of resort provided. No mention of buffet hours or how to make reservations at restaurants. We were not told what time check out is. No hot tub as advertised. Slippery buffet floors. Drink service at buffets almost non-existent. No coffee available outside of buffet area before 8am. Pool and beach bar not open before 10:30am. Could we get a partial refund for the money spent on our room?

Staff/service was pretty dependent on where you were at. Both restaurants we ate at had pretty poor service, but the bartenders at the bars generally were good to excellent. Landscaping/outside property and pool all kept clean and very nice. Room was clean. We only ate dinner buffet one night and unfortunately for us it was “American” night so was nothing fantastic.
