Great central location, beautiful historic lobby comfy rooms. The lobby level restaurant is excellent for breakfast or dinner. It’s called the Palm Court and opens seamlessly into the wood columned, high ceiling lobby with chandeliers.

The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The lobby is gorgeous and the staff were super helpful. I had hairs on my pillow that did g belong to me so that was quite disgusting and off putting but they switched them out quite quickly.

The hotel was great. The area is filled with drug users and dealers. They are blatantly everywhere. The homeless population was massive. Makeshift tent homes were everywhere

I stay at the Benson often, I love it. It has a lot of history and character. As a union hotel, I get to know the staff and they me. They completed a major renovation of all guest rooms a couple of years ago, including the bathrooms rooms, and they are very comfortable. I do miss the old bathrooms with the soaking tubs, but times change and so do bathroom fixtures. The bedding is really nice, and they're generous with pillows. Housekeeping does an excellent job. Overall, the service at the Benson is friendly, professional and dependable. Great downtown location with most points of interest within walking distance or a quick Uber/taxi ride aesy. Valet parking makes it super easy. Thank you, Benson for an excellent stay.

Received a random charge a week after staying at the hotel that wasn't discussed when I was there. I neither showered nor used anything in the room. This is unacceptable.

Property has no self-parking for guests, only an expensive valet parking. As you enter the building, there's a distinct smell that is not pleasant. The building is quite old but good thing is it's somewhat newly renovated.

This hotel is full of integrity and history. It's wonderful! Take the time for the historical staircase tour. Room was comfortable and clean. Typical random homeless at nearby areas. Mostly harmless but a few of them randomly shouting through the night. Overall it was great and we'd definitely stay again if we're in the area.

Great staff, they even fetched a bucket of ice for me when we got to our room. The room was surprisingly spacious for a downtown hotel. We were able to check in a little early with no fee.

Everything was great with one exception. Staff were awesome. Beautiful hotel. Rooms are clean and newly finished. The only thing was that the hot water took a very long time day one to get hot and did not get hot the second morning. Our room was on the 6th floor so perhaps that played in. Otherwise it was a very nice stay in a very nice place.

Beautiful hotel! The bar and lobby are beautifully done. The rooms are large and very clean. We did have to wait a bit to check in since there was only one person working but other than that it was a great stay!

We stayed in one of the penthouse suites. When we arrived in our room we tried to contact housekeeping and room service repeatedly to request coffee packets and paper towels for the kitchenette area and no one would answer the phone. We had nothing to dry our hands off in the kitchen area at all. Our bathroom sink was almost completely clogged and would fill up with water just brushing your teeth. There were also no toiletries as described in the list of included amenities. We also waited over 30 minutes for valet to bring our car around when we called ahead and were told it would be 10 minutes. For the price we paid for a penthouse suite this was totally unacceptable and I would not stay there again.

The interior was beautiful. The rooms were fairly small but it wasnt bad at all for 2 people. I had a hot water issue and had to change rooms right afyer midnight. It was rather annoying but it didnt take more than 15 minutes to get a new set of cards and a new room.

This is a beautiful property in the heart of Portland. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We opted not to use the vallet parking but there is a public garage next door.

This hotel was fine, mostly as advertised, but it took staff three times to get us in an adequate room. The first one was already occupied, the second one had a defect. We were tired when we arrived, these minor troubles were unfortunate. The breakfast wasn't buffet style, unfortunately.

No more character in staff
Well my wife and I have masde the Benson our stop everytime we attend concerts, Plays, theatre, etc... in the Portland area. For probably 23 years we would stay here, valet park our car and LYFT/UBER around Portland. Well, I am not sure if it because it is now part of the Hilton Group or whatever, but the staff was horrible from the time we got there until we left. Smug, no smiles, short answers, out fo the 6 that we encountered, only one seemed like she even wanted to be there. Just not a very happy, pleasant experience as it has been time and time again. Then to round it off, when we left our valet parking was $59. We have never paid over $20 because we have always received a discount form our Gold/Platimnum status with an online booking company. We were told that they no longer accept any type of discounts. After 23 years, going to be looking for a new holtel to spend our 8-10days a year at when in town.

Stay here every Christmas Eve and Christmas Night. Every Year. Lobby is So Christmassy. Downtown Portland is great. Sure there are some interesting Characters. It's a downtown. I walk around giving $20 bills to the homeless on Christmas Eve, that's my penance. Then I go to Mary's Strip Club 2 blocks from hotel and chat it up with the Dancers. Too Much Fun. Always as many women in the crowd there as men. Try It.

Nice stay with room for improvement
Beautiful historic hotel with friendly staff. The door to our room was broken the entire trip so we never were able to get into our room without help (very annoying). They tried to fix it but never were able to. The valet is slow and at times not very personable (seemed annoyed when we wanted our car).

We are local; we love the Benson for special occasions. It’s old-world gorgeous but the rooms are sophisticated and modern. The staff is always so helpful and engaging. We had a fabulous NYE dinner at Gaucho and the atmosphere, food and service were terrific. Our server, Ari, was fabulous!
