Wonderful location
Corto Maltes has an unbeatable location on the beach and is close to everything. Rooms are well equipped, clean and very spacious. Sand toys were thoughtfully left in closet for guest use. Friendly staff, especially the onsite manager, who was a great help when safe wouldn't open due to low battery. The security guard got us a cart to offload our groceries from the taxi, so we could easily bring up in elevator- super nice! A few things to note about this property: there is live music downstairs all day and into the night, which we really enjoyed, but may bother quieter guests. Also the dive excursions load their tanks onboard boats in front of this hotel, often dragging them on the concrete in the early morning, so be aware if you are a light/ late sleeper. We had to purchase our own face/washcloths, as there weren't any in either bathroom (left them when we checked out.) The pool is next door at El Faro: has nice lounge chairs, massage available poolside, and great shallow kiddie pool. We thought with serving both hotels it would be too crowded, but it wasn't at all in November. Zensi is the downstairs bar/restaurant which had decent food and drinks,with the best tables right in the sand under the palms. All in all though, our family had a great time here and would return-- highly recommend!

Room 201 is very nice.
The room was very clean and nice. Good view from the balcony. The pool next door was ok but to warm. The big problem was the code for our room was wrong. We were stuck outside in the heat for 1 1/2 hours trying to get in. After traveling all day that was not good. You can forget about all the emergency numbers and emails they give you. I called and emailed every one. NOT ONE REPLY!! We got ahold of the security guard, he was finally able to get a hold of someone that could help us get in. The other problem is we are backed up to a club that's plays music every night.

Great Location but Needs a little work
My family and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our vacation. The location is in the center of downtown Playa del Carmen which is great. Plenty of shopping, restaurants and little boutiques within walking distance. One downside to this specific place is that there is a bar on the fist floor. One of the nights the music was pretty loud until about 1am. The room itself (Condo 105) has a great oceanfront view. Very spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Although the condo was clean, it felt a little dirty because there were some stains on the curtains, cushions and chairs. Nothing crazy but the fact that you see it makes you feel like the place is a little dirty. If they clean those little things up a bit, it would make the whole place feel a little cleaner.

We were upgraded to room 105, because the refrigerator wasn't working, it couldn't of been a more beautiful big 2 bedroom 2 bath condo, with views of the ocean.

Large condo right in the heart of town
Condo was as pictured on the website. It was very clean. Condo managers responded immediately to issues that we had (couldn't figure out how to use the tv) and sent someone over within the hour. Although the noise didn't bother us at all, there is a lot of noise in the early morning cause by the nearby dive company loading tanks, and the nightclub alongside the condo rocked until 5 am some nights. Our condo was the closest to these businesses though. Again, that didn't cause us to lose sleep. Security was great and we never felt worried. The attached restaurant has great food.

Relaxing stay
I asked for an ocean front room but did not get it. Found out later the ocean front rooms are more noisy. The location is great for clubs, shopping, eating. This place is hard to find at night and no one knows where it's at. You should bring a map. My washer and dryer ended up not working so bring extra clothes. They let me use another washer in another unit but it was a hassle. We stayed in 201 and it had three bedrooms which was awesome. The twin beds ended up being to hard for my kids but fine for my husband.This unit also had a microwave, blender, toaster, and coffee pot. Also had a great bar downstairs. Definitely would stay here again.

Nice condo with beach front
We had a great experience, it was situated in front on the beach and steps from the 5th Ave which is a pedestrian street. Lots of things at walking distance. The only downside for us was that it doesn't have a pool on the premises, but you can use the pool from El Faro, the condo right next door. That pool is not the greatest thing but it's clean and keeps you cool. Corto doesn't offer full hotel service because it's a condo but your room gets cleaned every 3 days and you can save some money doing some grocery shopping. Kitchen was fully equipped and was very big, so were the 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms! Overall it was great for a big family.
