Sports
Just around the corner, Scottsdale Stadium is the Cactus League spring training home of the San Francisco Giants. The Scottsdale Scorpions, the Giants minor league entry in the Arizona Fall League, play there as well. The Phoenix metropolitan area is also home to teams from the four major leagues – the NFL Arizona Cardinals, NBA Phoenix Suns, MLB Arizona Diamondbacks and NHL Phoenix Coyotes – in addition to the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury.
Recreation
Nearby mountains like Camelback and South, Piestawa Peak and the McDowell-Sonora Preserve attract legions of outdoor enthusiasts for hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking on their trails and outcroppings.
Golf
No discussion of Scottsdale recreation is complete without mentioning golf. Described as “America’s Best Place to Live for Golf,” the city is considered a premier enclave for the sport and home to more than 100 courses. The Waste Management Phoenix Open is held every January in North Scottsdale and is the most-attended stop on the PGA Tour.
