Not great. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, but the hotel just felt broken. The decor seemed very tired and dull. In the bedroom, WiFi didn't work, air conditioning was ineffective, telephone was only there for show, fridge was hot, and the sink's plug didn't open. Also, no hot water. Surrounding neighbourhood seemed pretty run down too, which I know is not their fault

Could be better
Decent hotel, but the bathroom was sub-par. It smelled, there was a pipe dripping continuously and I think they forgot the P-trap on the plumbing because did I mention the smell? The location depends what you are looking for, it's really close to the train station (5 minute walk) but the location is a bit sketchy walking around at night.

Felt unsafe
I did not feel safe staying here. There seemed to be a lot of people loitering in the lobby. There were people standing around the stairs in front of our hotel room (they did not appear to be staff) and I was concerned about my belongings while I was away.

good value
this hotel is good value and a clean central place to lay your head in naples, it is very convenient for the train station, and close to historic st lorenzo district. it is not a five star place, so the fridge didnt work properly, simple but ample breakfast, sweet croissants, and cheese and ham with bread, coffee and juice but the hotel staff are friendly and nice, the bed is comfortable and in front of the hotel are two very good pizzeria, just small street cafes but the food is good. it is also not far from castel nuovo and the botanical garden. the area looks a bit knocked about compared to rome but is quite safe

Not to stay in Napoli at all
Hotel was located near the train station which is good. But the zone is dangerous, dirty and people in napoli are aggresive. The hotel staff were not service oriented. I will not recommended and even not recommend the city, if wants to goes to Capri that is espectacular, consider Sorrento or Pompei to stay.

1 star or unrated hotel.
1 star breakfast, very boring , nothing filling, bad coffee. Run down hotel. If something is broken or missing, that's it, live with it. The guy at the desk asked for 3 euros every time i left the hotel for an excursion as "tax". The first time i gave him, in my naivete, 6 euros. But the next two times i told him that i am not giving him anything, and he said ok. The location is right near the train station, which proved good for my departures and arrivals. That was the only plus. Also, wifi only in the lobby and for one hour. After that you are shut down.

should be 2 star or less
I made this hotel my base hotel, from where i went to Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and finally Sicily. So i had three different rooms each time. The first room was tiny and dark. The TV had visual problems and the fridge did not close. The second room really was the best, bigger and had Sky TV so I could access to English News is good, but no fridge. The third room was facing the street where kids were playing loudly soccer most of the afternoon and could be heard clearly with the windows closed. Also it had no air condition. Luckily i was too tired to care. What, however, topped it all off was the BREAKFAST. The man in charge was a bit of a tyrrant. You had to sit where he said otherwise he would eagle-eye watch your eating. The breakfast was of very poor quality. There was a coffee machine that was probably based on instant coffee inside it. Terrible. There were rolls and croissants, jam, butter and every second day yogurt. No fruit,, which was a shame since the fruit in Naples is plentiful and so tasty. There never was any difference from day to day ...same drag. Really a 1 star breakfast, if that

Very convenient to Termini Naples; attentive staff
Location a double-edge sword. Bad neighborhood in immediate vicinity, but very close to Termini. Hotel itself very secure--once you get to front door. Very comfortable inside, except for street noise. Hotel has sliding window grates and tightly closing windows to muffle sound. A good value, overall.

Basic hotel, near to station 10 min walk, clean.
Initial impression - faulty towers in good way. Staff nice with sense of humour, close to station, good soundproofed room. Nice basic break fast with nice coffee. Shower, fridge and hairdryer, no aircon whenI was there in sept. I would go again off season, ..not in height of summer if no aircon. Overall enjoyed it, rooms clean except under bed dirt and broken glass.

OK hotel in a dirty part of town
My wife and I stayed here for three nights, wanting a place close to the train station and for a reasonable price. After our stay at San Giorgio, I can say we succeeded in meeting those goals. Highlights: it is really close to the train station and pretty easy to find. This proximity also puts you within walking distance of the major tourist areas, the metro line, and the best pizza I've ever eaten (Da Michele). The price was tough to beat, but it looked like the fewer dollars/night we spent on the room to stay at San Giorgio were worth it compared to the other places in the area. Downside: the area around the train station is dirty and scary looking at night. We didn't have any trouble while we were there, but we also didn't venture out too far. The staff was nice, but one front desk employee left me feeling sour when he gave us directions to a restaurant which were clearly made up. The facilities are OK--you get what you pay for. Overall, it's a good place in a sketchy location.

Decent hotel close to train station
Stayed 1 night in June 2013 after arriving in Naples from the US. It is close to the train station\bus stop (from the airport) but very hard to find as it is off a main road. It is within 10 minutes walk of the 2 great pizza restaurants in town and the best gelato place. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city center where the port is. The price is great but the hotel has no A\C. We kept the windows open which worked OK but there is a fair amount of noise outside until midnight. We felt safe in the hotel but Naples is a poor city - stay on well lit streets at night. Be careful walking across streets near the station - cars speed around corners and it is dangerous.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
granted, it is a bad area, you can't help that. upon reaching the hotel (5 minute walk from the train station) it looks really nice, marble floors clean, expensive) reception is alright..average. the room is clean, new, bathroom appliances are nice looking and modern. BUT, the TV, air conditioning AND wifi was not working. I could not believe it. the fact that all three weren't working tells me it i is a deliberate lie. they did not want to fix it, they said someone would come in the morning. we were checking out in the morning. tv and wifi i dont care much (although it should work) but the air conditioning is VITAL. you cant evem open the window because its too loud outside all.night.long. horrible sleep because of that. this hotel is a deliberate lie, it looks nice but nothing works and there is no service!!

Great Hotel for the Location
The hotel is a short distance (about 5-min. walk) to the train station, and about 15-min. to the historical center. The hotel is clean, and the staff is very nice and helpful. The owners daughter speaks almost perfect English. They have an elevator and a community computer in the lobby area should your wi-fi not come through as my wireless company had promised. The staff is very nice and always smiling. The only caveat is the neighborhood, but you are in Naples. :) The hotel does lock their doors after dusk. And, I was traveling alone and did not feel threatened by the least bit.

Not great
Hotel was in a dodgy area, however Naples in general was all pretty much the same. Our bathroom was filthy on arrival, there had been some repair work done and it had not been cleaned since. We had to ask twice to get it cleaned. The staff were not particularly friendly or helpful with this, but they were helpful next morning when we required a taxi. Breakfast was not of 3 star standard, just some cold cuts, bread and some bad crossiants.

They moved us to another hotel
The only experience I had of this hotel was the reception area and the hotel staff, who were very helpful. The hotel moved me to the nearby Holiday Inn due to problems with the water temperature, for which the staff were very apologetic. This was arranged without problem and they paid for the taxi to take me there. The Holiday Inn was a four star so it was a welcomed change, however it was a little further out of the centre. San Giorgio is very well located, right in the centre. The reception area was well presented...I have given a neutral rating on the room as obviously I didn't get to see it. I at times felt a little like I needed to be cautious in the neighbourhood and I did at first struggle to find the hotel, but that is mostly due to the number of streets and poorly signed streets. I would recommend this hotel based purely on the service I briefly received.

Good value and a good location near the main rail station, so handy for trains to Rome, Pompei, Herculaneum & Cuma etc. Has a couple of good, traditional restaurants nearby. The surrounding streets are not particularly clean or inviting, but the welcome at the hotel and indoor security make up for this.

Perfect for the budget-minded adventurer
Inexpensive & conveniently located - a perfect base for the budget-minded traveller to explore Campania in general and Napoli in particular. First, the bad news: there's just no way around the fact that the area around Stazione Napoli Centrale is pretty raffish, even by Neapolitan standards. Trash of all sorts, including the human variety, abounds. And the short walk from the train station to the hotel will give you a quick and rough introduction to the...ummm...interesting relationship between pedestrians and motor vehicles in Napoli's famously chaotic traffic. But just watch the locals, and follow their example, and you'll soon be threading your way confidently between the scooters and the smart cars just like they do. Somehow it all works. Next, the good news: at the end of that short walk, you'll find a very neat, clean, well-kept hotel with a helpful but unobtrusive staff that is there for you 24/7, plus a more than adequate breakfast every morning. There's a good discount supermarket ("MD") just around the corner, with a nearby "Postemat" ATM that usually works. Plus one of the best Pizzerias in Naples ("Pizza da Gaetano") within easy walking distance. As long as you're not expecting perfect luxury or great views from your window - if you just want a convenient and comfortable base for exploring Naples and Campania - don't hesitate. This is perfetto.

Convenient for transport But ........
Room facilities not fully functional. Room lighting low due to few electric points, minibar empty, in room safe non-functional, fan provided as only air conditioning, and if socket used then light could not be used. Floor had 9cm dirt tracks on floor around walls. Shower small and drained slowly so needed to be very quick and overflow possible all the time. Locality not good with glass, rubbish on pavements to add to the local profuse graffiti. Positives were clean towels everyday, double glazed windows/shutters, lobby internet, lift, staff helpful, breakfast included - good as few cafes etc nearby, and very close to transport links for early starts to Pompeii etc and walk possible to historic centre.

Great hotel not so keen on neighbourhood
The staff and quality of the hotel are brilliant. However, we weren't so keen on the neighbourhood at night. Would recommend taking a bus tour that runs along the coastline as the scenery is really amazing. If you are planning a trip to Pompeii the main train station, which is just a five minute walk away, has trains running regularly which were really cheap approx. €5 for two people.

If you need internet access, forget this hotel.
Broken refrigerator, second room (after changing) smelled of tobacco, and one of the clerks could use a smile now and then. But what really got me was the fact that they advertised having wireless and what they do have is a pre-paid internet card of 1 € per hour that does not even covers the entire building. I was there on work for two weeks, I require net access, you can imagine what i spent on that alone. This is a clear case of lying on the advertisement. I'm not going back there.

Good hotel, bad location
This is a really brilliant hotel especially for the price. The service was good and the staff generally friendly. The breakfast itself was adequate, although nothing special. No fruit or yoghurt was offered. The room was a good size and was well equipped with fridge, safe and bathroom products. Also having a sky decoder in your room meant that many of the sky channels could be changed back to english. The main downside of this hotel is its location. Frankly Naples is not a very attractive or safe place and this hotel is located in the centre of the worst area. Having been mugged on the first night our stay was somewhat tainted. Be very very careful walking around, particularly when it is dark. There are many people loitering around in the area and it is generally very dirty with rubbish piled up everywhere. If I were to return to the area I would stay in Sorento which is far nicer and as easy to access Pompei etc from.
