The property was completely under construction during our visit. There was scaffolding and building materials everywhere. The view was obstructed and the property was in shambles. It was disappointing because we were staying there for a birthday event and it was not at all special or festive. There should have been some notice on the website when we made reservations. It would have changed our decision about where to stay. When we brought this up, we were offered free parking.

Two days before arrival I received a call that they didn’t have any room with 2 beds despite me having a reservation for this booked way in advance. Construction was everywhere so getting to the room was more than inconvenient with a child and an expectant mom in our party. No assistance offered. We had to leave our travel cases on one floor and walk down stairs and around to get to our room with each drop off of belongings. They brought a rollaway in which is no match to a bed. Same expensive price with all the add d nonsense. We go every year but No thanks. Staying elsewhere Quite unsatisfactory

Room was stylish, new, and very clean. Restaurant was excellent and had a terrific view of the ocean. Staff were very friendly and gave us fee drink tickets. The thing to know is that the hotel is under construction as they renovate one of the wings. The construction was not an issue for us.

They are remodeling this hotel so conditions are not good. The staff is still great. Restaurant menu has limited selections. They did not have a specific bar menu like they had before. They didn’t charge resort fee which is good but still charged for parking. They should not charge anything extra until they finish the construction.

They are remodeling to a point were they should not be open at all. There is construction everywhere you need a hard hat to walk around.

I didnt like that we had to pay a resort fee and certain amenities were not available during construction. Also charged parking fee when parking was limited and cramped due to construction trucks.

The property is at a great location but it is under construction. All the resort areas like pool and common areas are closed yet they charged me for a resort fee. I don’t understand why they charged for resort fee when common areas are closed. Not good

The room was very clean and nice. Of course waking up on the ocean is amazing but the construction and lack of elevators made it very inconvenient to go to the rooms or the lobby. I would consider staying here again when the construction is finished but as of now don’t expect it to be an overall nice stay.

The property is under construction. We were not informed. The pool/jacuzzi was closed. Lounge, closed. Very hard to get around as the elevator and hallways and stairs were not accessible. We had no hot water and when we asked about it I was treated as if I was out of line to want hot water. Very rude to me. We were charged 25$ per day for resort fee? 45$ per day for parking(parking lot was a mess, due to construction). Beautiful location on beach. Not worth the money and rude staff. You can stay other places for that price.

Under construction, so there are no pools, no lobby, very limited on everything, including no lobby, but still charged for a resort fee as if it were a fully functional resort. EV charging advertised is for Tesla only, so requires a drive a few miles up the road and a couple hours to charge a vehicle.

You didn’t inform us of the hotel under remodel construction had to walk up stairs no lobby room was not ready on time remodeled room was nice on the inside. Over half the parking taken by supplies and workers!!!!

Was not listed that this property was under full renovation! Unreal that this would be left off by hotel and Expedia. Once we got into a room, did not clean the room after several requests and no areas to eat/sit/do anything. Very bad experience.

Complete construction zone. No hot tub, no pool- booked through Expedia and Monterey tides charged me ontop of Expedia with pet fees (do not have a pet) breakfast (did not eat breakfast ) and parking. Total billing $386.96 from Monterey Tides and 209.36 Expedia. total room charge was over $600 to stay in a construction zone. Dishonest staff-complete money grab

I wish I had read the reviews ahead of time. The hotel is under major construction. The only good thing was the room was nice - luckily got a remodeled room. It would’ve been nice to be upgraded to an ocean view. We arrived at 9pm. Someone at the front desk escorted us to our room, which turned out to be necessary because we had to cross construction barriers, walk along hallways with zero lighting and I have two kids with me. Construction noise pretty early in the morning. Elevators did not work from the 3rd floor so we had to go up the stairs to the 4th to go down to the main floor. Or cross weird barriers to walk down to the main floor. Upon checkout, I let them know we were unaware of the construction. The reply was “You booked through a third party, they should’ve mentioned it.” $25 per night to park. $40 resort fee. And the tv remote didn’t work on our first of two nights. I don’t understand how they can charge full price right now. Even though it will probably be very nice when they’re done, we will not be returning.

Property was a construction site - not a hotel. There was absolutely no indication of their website or any communication indicating that it was a construction. Very unscrupulous to have nothing on the website. Would highly recommend NOT to book here at all - and with them not be truthful about the condition of the “hotel” I would never book here again.

Property is under large scale construction which is not noted on their website or through Expedia, but still try to upcharge you? Little hot water, access around the property confusing. Still charge a resort fee even though there is no direct beach access, pool no longer heated, fitness center closed. TV did not work in our room even though we asked for it to be corrected on the first night stay of a 4-night stay. No phone to call, we had to walk to front desk to ask for towels, cleaning, etc. We should not have been put in a position to demand a TV in another room just to watch the Super Bowl. We have stayed at other Tides properties throughout the US. Though we have stayed at this property over the past thirty years under various names, thus property definitely brings down the Tides brand name.

We weren’t notified that they are having major renovations being done at the property. They were sawing and drilling throughout the day. Right next to our room. Our tv’s didn’t work, no hot water for showers (lukewarm), the walkways were blocked off with do not enter signs that we had to go around to go our room. No overhead lights to get to room at night. Very disappointed with our stay

The property is under renovation but it's not disclosed either to Expedia or on their website. The rooms, despite the beautiful ocean view, are severely overpriced; the rooms are outdated, small and dark inside. The pictures of property are misleading in that they give the false impression that the hotel is beautiful. The hotel restaurant food and service, however, were excellent! Marley, the server, is super nice and friendly!
