"Although the property was old and in need of some remediation it was a very pleasant stay and Lisa and John were perfect hosts and couldn’t do enough for you.
The property was dated but this was in keeping with its surroundings within a listed village.
The food was extremely well cooked and presented and couldn’t be faulted.
The room we had was clean and spacious with everything you could need.
All in all a very nice stay."
"The hotel is a bit jaded, carpets need a clean/renewing. The room was adequate, nothing amazing. But it was clean and the towels were good. Could do with some shampoo and shower gel as there wasn’t any. Great location."
"A beautiful property set in beautiful grounds. A very warm welcome and personal show around by Guy the owner. A lovely room with sea views. Comfortable bed. Honestly bar and honestly food selection. Stunning breakfast choices and nice communal spaces to relax in. Very lovely find."
"An elegantly appointed fairly formal country house in a beautiful rural setting, not far from a tiny small village. The rooms are comfortable and the hosts provide a great breakfast.
Access to and from the property from the A roads was interesting to say the least. Single lane “roads” for the 2 miles either side of the property require a fair degree of both caution and concentration. Some parts will barely allow a car to pass. That said, it is worth the trip. Just do it slowly!"
"The location was good, nestled in the moor in a small village, complete with shop, river and old bridge: very Devon!
We wish that we could say that the pub food in our Inn was good; it wasn't. Overpriced, bland and in the case of the vegetables, undercooked even beyond a fashionable crunch. 'Raw' comes to mind.
The pub public areas were shut at 9pm and the staff went home. We actually felt rather abandoned! In all, not a good experience"
"Old , well maintained, modern updated rooms ,great beds ,excellent showers friendly staff and locals , nice sitting by the river having a beer , nice meals also"
