The location was perfect for hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. I booked a shuttle through the hotel, and it could not have been easier. They pick you up right outside the lobby and drop you back that afternoon or evening, checking your name against a list to make sure you didn’t get left on the mountain. 😊 The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was not luxury but it was clean, comfortable, and quiet at a great price. Pizza at the onsite restaurant was an easy post-hike meal.

Great stay if you are doing the Tongariro Crossing
Clean renovated rooms and a nice restaurant with amazing front desk staff (Thank you Tori!) who took care of rescheduling our shuttle to the hike and arranging for a boxed lunch for the trek.

Good for a short stay
The hotel is good for a short stay, and close to the walks around Tongariro. The room is a little tired and the beds not too comfortable but was ok for 1 night stay. The restaurant is well priced and the food was very good. We had ribs and pizza and garlic and it was large portions. The spiral bar is also well priced for beers and local wines. We like the feel of the restaurant and sitting areas, we didn’t use the hot tubs but they looked good. Overall good value just a little basic on the accommodation front.

The hotel rooms are clean, but tiny and spartan. The restaurant was very good and the laundry was convenient. The location is remote, which isn't a surprise, so dining choices are limited.

It was a great place to break our journey and the spa pool was lovely after a day of driving. The restaurant was convenient but staff need more training to make it a more refined experience. Given the prices were not cheap the presentation of meals was poor. A bit of effort would go a long way. Also the waitress got the drinks order wrong so I had to go to the bar to exchange for what I'd really ordered. An okay experience but could be so much better.

Great accessible place
The Park offers a good bang for your buck, and it’s a great place to base yourself to do the Tongarino Alpine Crossing. Rooms could use a bit of a refresh, but the hotel has a nice historic feeling to it. Convenient to eat there too, since there’s not much else around.

The Park Hotel is a quaint mountain resort. Most guests are there to enjoy the outdoors so all you really need is a hot shower and a comfy bed! The restaurant was great and we had a lovely dinner. The staff were helpful and super friendly.

Loved the lodge-style restaurant so much we ate there all three nights and the location near the national park was great. Only complaint: windows very drafty and it was quite chilly when we visited at the end of November. Only one of two hot tubs was working and it was weak.

Great little hotel right outside Tongariro. Friendly staff, in house restaurant was convenient as well. Only negative is I wish the windows had screens for letting fresh air in. If ever in the area again will stay here.

Didn’t like how far room was from car park nor walking through restaurant to get there. Room was so tiny so glad we only had 3 of us as bathroom ridiculously small no way to change in there. Also needed a shelf in bathroom for sponge bags and hand towel ring, staff were really lovely especially Tori and Saphire so bubbly and helpful. Restaurant had awesome food. Sadly last night was busy so my chowder was only half full and only one overcooked garlic bread not two as usual. Overall ok stay though
