Traditional Thai style property but looking somewhat tired by today's standard. Fantastic views and great location if you're happy to relax in the sun all day or stroll down the beach. Staff well trained and friendly.

I had a very enjoyable and relaxing two-week stay at Banburee, and I will definitely return. I was extremely impressed with the quality service provided by every staff member, from the gardeners to the front desk staff to the cooks and servers in the restaurant. The location is very well maintained and the staff do everything they can to meet your requests and ensure you are comfortable and happy. My only suggestions would be to install some ceiling fans in the restaurant area because it can be very hot, humid, and uncomfortable in Samui even though it's not the 'hot season.' Also, it would be great if Banburee can reduce its use of plastic straws in all beverages and cocktails. This would fit with their concept of being a healthy, holistic wellness resort. Hopefully, they will consider changing to paper straws or reusable (washable) glass straws.

Best Resort!
Best resort ever! There are so many more amenities than I thought. There are free bikes and kayaks for rent. You can use their cellphone for free so that you can find your way around. You can rent motorbikes at a reservation price! The pool area was beautiful and the staff was super helpful. You can also go to their partnership hotel to use their pool and enjoy their beach!

Great location for a chill inside the resort.
Has many plus points but shame about the loose dangerous dogs on the beach that prevents a walk on the beach ! Nice courteous staff but spa facilities expensive'ish ! Was surprised that I couldn't walk out with a shampoo bottle in my room that was offered as part of my stay :) unless I chose to pay for it of course!

Hotel was well maintained rooms cleaned every day and fresh towels. The best of this hotel is the staff they are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for them. They made our stay very comfortable. They are friendly and ensure you are well looked after. I would highly recommended this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Koh Sumui.

This is a very nice hotel.
If you want peace and quiet in a beautiful location, stunning gardens, with very helpful and friendly staff and excellent accommodation you'll love Banburee. However it is quite remote. There are great restaurants and shopping in Lamai but the taxi fares became expensive. There are no other amenities in walking distance. Though it's on the beach it's a shallow bay and swimming is impossible. But the pool is a good consolation and the view is beautiful. The room, though 'standard' was very large, colonial style, big bed and huge jacuzzi bath and shower. Good food in restaurant. We had a great stay.

The best deal
This is by far the best deal on the island. Wonderful staff, and gorgeous view. Excellent prices. You can rent transportation directly from them. It's a little further away from Chawang, but worth it if you're looking for a nice quiet environment; plus it's very close to Lamai, which is a great town with an awesome nighttime market. Extra room guests were never a problem, and the professionals who keep the place running are excellent guides to a positive and relaxing time. I'm American, but there were folks from all over the world at the resort. The band who plays there regularly are awesome. The place is more like a social club than any other place I've been. I got to have a blast with couples from England, Germany, Russia, France, and the Philippines. I stayed here for more than two weeks. I had originally planned on going to Vietnam and mainland Thailand, but I just couldn't bring myself to leave this place. It was so relaxing. The only downside is integrating back into normal society after you get back home. You're truly spoiled here, and it's emotional when you leave.

I really enjoyed Banburee Resort. The staff were excellent. It is on a quiet part of the island so it is good for relaxation. The restaurant at the hotel had many delicious choices and the food was good. I loved lounging by the poolside while looking at the ocean view and walking on the beach. The hotel has happy hour and a great lunch menu too, the service at the restaurant and through the hotel was excellent.

Very quiet place to stay. The ocean is not somewhere you can swim due to all the rocks, but the view is very beautiful! The restaurant was very good there. They even had live music a couple nights during our stay. The pool was out of order due to heavy rainfall the night before. The rooms were not the most comfy, nor were they the best looking. Staff were very excellent and friendly. They have a free shuttle to Lamai beach and back every day 3x a day which was very handy. Overall I'm not sure if I would stay here again due to the rooms, but the rest of the resort is very beautiful and very nature like.

Overall a very nice stay
The hotel is situated 30 minutes from Lamai in a very nice and relaxing spot. We were welcomed by the reception in a very pleasant way and upgraded to a Villa with sea view for 2 days (since they had some "problems" with the air-condition in our normal room); later we decided to keep the room and pay extra. The hotel staff in general is very humble and polite, even if they could improve their english skills a lot more. Room was very nice with a great sea view. We were very relaxed after staying here. The bad point is the cleanliness. Bathtub was looking pretty bad since nobody bothered to fresh paint it. When opened, the water was dripping from the shower valve. Mirror was dirty most of the time, even after we inform them about it. Bedroom had a bad noise from the power panel inside the wardrobe.Windows were never cleaned and had stains all over it. And the outside terrace was dirty, even after we inform them. F&B: Chef was excellent. Very good food.Congrats!. Staff was good but again not speaking very well english.F&B manager was ok, but was insisting too much we the special offers. Also he could manage better the staff, since most of the time they are sitting at the PC and people need attention or things are dirty. (see pool area, pool towers just thrown away this is just an example.The most annoying thing:Maintain your beach cleanliness! Don't let garbage there! For 7 days on top of the right side stairs was/is garbage. Glean the garbage and don't just hide in the sand!

Second stay, does not disappoint
We stayed in this hotel previously, both times at the beach front villa. The hotel staff are fantasic, the villa is large and comfortable. With separate living room and bedroom, both with aircon units, separate wc and bath areas and outside private shower facilities, these are comfortable rooms with great views. The pool is a good size and always clean, quite and right on the beach. The beach is small although walking to the left quickly uncovers stunning sandy areas where you can feel totally alone. The staff are friendly and facilities including free wifi easily accessible. A free shuttle to the local town of Lamai (where anything you want can be found) is provided although can be expensive for a return taxi. I love this hotel for the piece and quite, if you want lively, look elsewhere.

Overall, the hotel is perfect for relaxing and unwinding with the amazing view from the pool. The hotel however is away from pretty much everything and unless you pay for a taxi (which was expensive from the hotel) or the shuttle (free from the hotel) at 12, 5 and 8pm then there isn't much you can do and your 'stuck' in the hotel grounds. The rooms were very comfortable. The staff were ok but could have been more attentive at times but there were such few guests around I suppose they just switched off from time to time. I would recommend staying here for 2-3 days to relax but that's about it.

A resort away from all the madness in Koh Samui
We got a basic room which was essentially very basic. The beds were ok (standard firm mattresses you find in Asia) & the bathroom was very clean & comfortable to use. The pool area was very nice however the buffet breakfast wasn't spectacular & not very fresh. This is a good place to come to if you don't want to be very close to any of the action in Koh Samui & just have a place to lounge by the pool & chill in your room. If that's your plan it would probably be better to pay more & get a villa as those looked nicer. If you want to get around the island it would be a good idea to get a scooter

Perfect getaway with the girlfriend!
This was one of our favorite stays while in Southern Thaialnd! Not only did they upgrade our room to a villa for free bc of the renovations underway, the customer service was well beyond expectations. We left an additional tip just because of that. The only downside was the spotty wifi connection and that the location is failry remote. If you are looking to party this is not the right spot for you. Expect to pay resort prices but honestly I did not mind it for once. EVERYTHING on the menu was top notch, 5 star quality, even the breakfast buffet was good! As a heads up they have an AMAZING seafood menu to choose from but it is all ordered fresh so it must be requested a day before. So if your staying only one day and wish to partake (I wish I could have) give them a heads up. The grounds were impeccable and they have some of the friendliest staff I have encountered. A bonus star awarded for most of the staff being able to speak very clear english. Perfect for an outing with a significant other.

Hotel Staff was pleasant and always trying to do the best they can. However the rooms were quite disappointing and the facilities were too. Don't think it was at all worth the price. Wifi didn't even work, shower they replaced after complaining. Buffett Breakfast was not very nice. Overall experience unfortunately wasn't too good.

Excellent spa resort, in quite location.
Firstly I would like to thank all the staff who made our stay at Banburee so memorable, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in a villa, trust me it's worth the extra money, the rooms where well maintained and spotless. The resort is located on the south of the island and is pretty isolated, which is exactly what we were looking for, we stayed for 5 night at the start of a 18 day visit to Thailand and completely chilled out, talking of chilling, we had 2 Swedish massages in the adjoining Spa, which were amazing. There is lovely swimming pool serviced by the restaurant which caters for all tastes, my only criticism is that it was a bit to safe, I had to ask for the traditional Thai dishes to be hot (spicy)!! That said the food was very good, there is an open kitchen and different specials offered every night. Breakfast was included in our package and it ticked all the right boxes, great quality and variety, eggs are cooked to order. I would definitely stay again purely to unwind.

The staff is the friendliest, most attentive staff we encountered during our 5 week stay in Thailand. The general manager Shane went above and beyond when we found out our bank account had been hacked and could not take out any more cash from the ATM. The resort is very secluded, but just rent a motorbike from the hotel for 250 Baht/day and ride around to see the entire island! Amazing service, amazing resort, amazing experience.

Nice hotel, we didn't have internet connection for the first day and a half which was a little frustrating due to us needing to book other travel arrangements.. You need to hire a moped to get around due to the location unless you want to pay the abhorrent excess charges the hotel puts on your taxi fares, from memory to the airport should only cost 700 baht the hotel will charge an extra 400 for this service.. Also will charge you 250 moped hire when down the road its 200.. Basically most high end hotels will do this, although I think this place is below the high league.. Nice hotel but I think its cheaper to get mopeds/taxis/drinks/food down the rd. Hotel staff are way above friendly.

Great place to relax and get away from it all. Room was large. Staff are helpful and very friendly. The food is good but only one restaurant on hotel grounds. Fishermans outlet will send a car for free to take you to their restaurant and there is a little bar across the road. Other than this you will have to get a taxi every time you want to shop or eat. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to go back.

As a result of war breaking out in the country I was scheduled to be traveling from, I was unable to continue with my vacation plans. The hotel staff and management were contacted by Expedia so they could explain the situation. The hotel management refused to refund any of the full amount paid in advance, despite the circumstances. I was not expecting a full refund, rather a bit of compassion and a portion of the amount refunded, since they would be able to rent the room to any other interested parties. Huge fail on their part...I would never recommend them.

Great Hotel for romance and peace & quite
The Hotel is situated in a very nice, quite and peaceful location. Have its own beach and just a little paradise. We recommend to hire a Moped/Vespa, its just £5-6 per day and for the evening or day go to other areas, where its more lively. My wife and I can really recommend this little true romantic place if you like to have a personal tough and pease and quite. We upgraded to a villa and it was all worth it, though we stayed for 12 nights, the delux rooms was really good too had TV, fridge etc

It's only a shuttle bus ride to town. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast, which was included, was very good. If you don' t see what you would like on the buffet table, they will make it for you. The beds are a little too hard for my liking, but all hotels in Thailand seem to shop at the same mattress store. The resort is located on a hillside, so consider that when booking.

A fantastic holiday in a quite location on a shingle safe private beach. excellent accommodation truly 5 star and close to the more hectic shopping and nightlife districts. 10 mins by moped. hire from hotel as so cheep and uncomplicated. food is ok for a snack but not thai at its best. but the staff are unbeatable. very helpful and some have very good english. The manageress was a star and sat and chatted to my boyfriend to keep him busy (her english was perfect) whilst i was out on a meditation mission. fantastic time had by all. we would not hessitate to go back a last minute offer cost was less than our least expensive b&B. mosquitos were well managed i was not bitter once and thats unusual the place is spotless and run with love. The staff evidently love thier jobs. The spa was not a facillity we used. it is not within walking distance very much therefore they provide a relatively cheep minibus to local resorts three times a day starting at 11am and returning about 9pm taxi is also avalable for from 1 to 8 pound around the island ... advice that you pre arrange transport from the airport with the hotel it is only about £4 more expensive than local £ taxis and the airport taxi will try to charge you even more. the pool and jacuzy were fantantic and children that stayed there were from babys and 4 year olds .. and they seemed to have a great time as did their parents many of them only did short day trips due to their comitments,. spending most of their time in the hotel and enjoyed it. happy hour is 4 to 7 at the pool and that was just lovely .. coctails sun and a cool pool to end the day. before a night on the town. returned march 29 2012 after a 1 week stay a quiet time to visits..meaning i had my first drive on the more quiet rds on a rental bike....so give it a try... a lovely holiday with no problems on Koh Samui at all.. the people are fantastic. Now Bangcok is another story.. but still a good experience.

We have booked 5 rooms for 5 night stay and when we arrived at the hotel at about 1am everything was ready for us. Checked-in was a breeze. Staffs are always willing to serve, especially their hotel manager Don (he is such a wonderful person who is always willing to go the extra mile to meet his guests needs). I highly recommend this place for those who wanted peace and tranquility. Do note though this place is far from Samui city centre.

Banburee Resort... 2 Stars, nothing more.
The accommodation was dismal. For a 4 star resort we found it to be extremely overrated - even for Koh Samui. We appreciate a 4 star resort in a developed country will differ in a 4 star rating in developing countries but for a holiday resort on a designated island which specialises in tourism, the resort bragged only enough for a 2 star rating. The floors had cheap and dirty tiles - the grout between the tiles looked like there was mould growing on it and there were stains everywhere and this is not an exaggeration. The daily breakfast which is charged at $8/person/day is a joke. There were 3 cereals to choose from, 3 fruit drinks + tea + coffee (of which they used tap water from based on the gastro issues arising about half an hour after breakfast...). In terms of savory foods; they offered white bread, wholemeal bread, croissants and a mediocre jam pastry. There were ants riddled through all the jams for the "toasted" bread and the only thing offered from the kitchen was omelet, scrambled eggs or banana pancakes. There is NO private beach and the pools are tiny. Don't be fooled by photos, they lie. Furthermore, we struggled with having reception staff accommodate our requests - booking car, picking us up from town with their shuttle which appears to pick up and drop off at numerous locations... Of the 5 reception staff, only 1 had the vaguest familiarity with the english language. Hospitality seemed like too much effort, too much eye-rolling for our liking.

We rented 3 villas at Banburee over 5days. Customer service was fantastic especially Rose (front office mgr) and Don (customer service mgr) who both exceeded expectation! Special mention to Ton who always appeared to be doing 3 things at any time in order to please the guests! All staff were always very helpful no matter what time of the day! Great Customer Service made the experience at Banburee memorable. Fantastic seaview from the villas. Nice pool and great food especially the bbq seafood. The only thing that was disappointing was the cleanliness of the toilets and bathroom. Overall we will be back at Banburee.

The hotel resort is in a beautiful location in Koh Samui. The rooms are wide and comfortable and made up perfectly every day. The restaurant is beautifully located above the swimming pools which open up to the see. Towels are provided regularly at the swimming pool (which we could use if we bathed in the sea). The sea is a bit rocky, and one has to be careful not to hurt themselves when swimming, but it is wonderful to be able to walk outside from your room in the morning and go straight in the water. The staff were very kind and assisted us throughout. A special mention for the hotel manager, Don, who has made our stay excellent. He splendidly manages his staff and ensured our stay was comfortable. We met people who regularly visit this same hotel as once they know Don they realise that every problem may have on holiday is attended to. And we are very tempted to go again. The hotel is not at walking distance from amenities or restaurants. It provides a free shuttle to nearby towns, but this is not so convenient if you are travelling as a family. We would therefore recommend hiring a car as we did.

We booked this hotell about 30 minutes before arrival, and while we had lunch in their restaurant with a beautiful view over the pool and ocean they fixed us a room. Very friendly and excellent service! Helpful in the reception, and when we arrived after 20 hours travel from Bangkok it was wonderful to have our bags brought up to our hotelroom by the staff. Really good food and breakfast buffet.Only thing is that if you want to go to Chaweng or Lamai a lot, there is a bit of a distance. The hotel offers free shuffelbus twice a day which is good!

Alt i alt et bra hotell men trenger en oppgradering og hadde vært fint med en dagligvarebutikk/kiosk i nærheten. Ligger veldig fredelig og stille til uten bråk. Minus var at hotellet hadde ikke personalet til å drive Spa avdelingen sin den ene dagen vi kunne tenke oss det. Hadde også vært topp med et biljardbord eller lignende siden det ikke ligger i nærheten av noe. Må ta taxi hvis man vil oppleve noe mer.
