All of the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The food in each of the restaurants we tried was quite good. The Indian in particular was very good. Again serving staff were very helpful. The rooms are starting to show some age - but they are comfortable no major issues. However, both the mattress and pillows could be updated. The pillows were lumpy, not as comfortable as you'd expect in a Crown Plaza. We did request new pillows, which we brought to our room within minutes - but they were very similar to the original ones. Overall a comfortable property with good staff.

Beautiful property is an oasis in otherwise teeming Kathmandu. Large, green area to stroll or just relax. Safe with tons of military and police support. Absolutely perfect staff--polite and friendly. Rooms large and well furnished. Quiet. Good shopping for souvenirs in gift shop and basement. Three very nice restaurants. Great pool area (sit and read now or swim when it's warmer). I would gladly stay there again.

Old Hotel with Huge Garden
We arrived during election day in Kathmandu (May 14) and we learned at the airport arrival that all taxi services are cancelled and even the tourist info desk was closed. Hence, we didn't know how to get to the hotel. A tourist guide of another group was kind enough to help us so he called the hotel and somebody arranged for our transport. We should have been informed ahead by the hotel that there will be no public transport at the airport when we arrive because of election day. If not for the helpful tourist guide we wouldn't know how to get to the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel we were standing in the lobby for several minutes because the check-in clerk was attending to somebody else who appeared to be arguing. Since we noticed that it will take some time we interrupted and the hotel desk called the lady sitting in another desk who already saw us earlier standing and waiting at the lobby. She should have attended to us when she saw that we have been waiting for some time. Upon check-in we were given an additional key for another room in case we don't like the room assigned to us. The room they gave us was smelly, had a defective toilet bowl and some broken furniture so we checked the other room and it was newer and cleaner so we chose this one. The first room was obviously old and needed renovation and we should not have been given this one when there are better ones available in the hotel.

Poor rooms but great breakfast
The descriptions of the room was mialeading on Hotels.com website. I booked an executive rooms with 2 Double beds. When I reaches there they were 2 single beds. We were family of 3. The rooms were small with see through bathroom window. The bathroom blinders wouldnt cover the window completely so you can watch your family member using loo or taking shower - how embarrasing. This was one of their recently upgraded executive room. I asked for refund for next 2 nights but the manager refused. He finally gave us old delux room which was somewhat bigger. He provided us with extra bed - the extra bed was not comfy, it felt like a third world hospital folding bed. The room was dusty at placed and bathroom was tires looking and old with metals which were actually rusting. The shower was so so. Staff were great so was breakfast. The garden reataurant was costly with poor food quality. Next time I will avoid this hotel at all costs.

Excellent property - beautiful and comfortable
The hotel is beautifully maintained and we loved the gardens. Staff is extremely courteous. We had a very comfortable stay for 4 nights. Food quality needs improvement especially at the indian restaurant kakori.

Just what we needed
After 2 weeks slogging your way to Everest Base Camp this was bliss. A wonderful hotel, beautiful surrounds, great restaurants and fantastic staff who can't do enough for you. It's a 15-20 min taxi to the Thamel area and not much in the immediate surrounds but you won't want to leave.

Nice quiet setting in the middle of busy Kathmandu
The hotel is lovely with good restaurants. The rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. The only issue we had was construction on the floor below our floor during the day. So it was a little noisy.

The Crowne Plaza is one of the nicer Kathamandu hotels though when compared to level of quality of Crowne Plaza's in other countries it falls short. They have been working on it though. Renovations have improved areas such as the resturant.

Very nice hotel and good for business people
Great hotel with friendly, professional staff who performed their jobs efficiently and effectively. I was so impressed by how the staff was able to manage the many diverse groups of clientele that came in every day - from large tour groups to airline staff to wedding and conference parties to individual business travelers like me. The hotel was always full during the time I was there for 9 days, but the service never faltered. This is a well-run hotel!

Worst ever view. Too formal a hotel .
Formality was the order of the day for this hotel so much so that you don't even feel welcome at this hotel. be it staff or the people at the reception they always seemed to be in a hurry to be at some place else rather than attending the customer standing in front of them. Surly not the class I expected it to be. View from the room was so pathetic that I am still wondering how could it stand so high up in list of Hotal to stay in Kathmandu. Never going back there.

The hotel is your typical international brand hotel with huge grounds and all the amenities for international travellers. However, I found the front desk staff a bit lacking in customer service skills. It was the only hotel in my life where I wasn't greeted by the staff but a man just looked at me and said, "Passport." As if I was going through immigration!

Air conditioning thermostat did NOT work - so TOO hot as the window did not open. Non-heated swimming pool - so too cool in February. Peace and quiet in hectic dusty & vehicle exhaust Kathmandu - BUT isolated in a housing / commercial non-tourist area so effectively confined to the hotel. On the opposite (west) side of the town from the airport so the rush-hour journey takes over one hour. Used by tour groups and airline staff. Many cheaper hotels in Kathmandu/Nepal.

A disappointment
The hotel lobby is impressive, bright and modern and airy. However, the rooms are old and dark and hot. I checked in an out after 1 hour! The staff were polite. I thought the quality of hotel would be much higher , I was sadly disappointed in the room standard, air on not working and stained linen and jut very old. Not as pictured or described. The gym was not modern at all, a basement room that was dark and tiny with minimum equipment and some damaged weights. All the shops in the hotel were closed up and shut, and given the location of the hotel, there was nowhere to go and nothing to do. I think the hotel needs to review it's pics and description and the rating needs to be lowered.

good hotel, lovely grounds and location not too bad (bit far from downtown) but in the room no toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving kit, slippers or dressing gown. internet is expensive and not fast or consistent (needed to login multiple times as it kept cutting out), for me at the room rate offered the internet should be included for sure. will not be going back....

Kathmandu Crown Plaza
The Crown Plaza is a great place to stay in Kathmadu. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is so friendly and the food in all the restuarants is delicious. You will enjoy your time whether it is staying the room, eating at one of many places available or sitting outside on the terrace. It is truly an oasis! Thank you!

Good comfortable accomodations in Kathmandu
The Crowne Plaza is one of the better hotels in Kathmandu. It is a long drive from the airport (during rush hour traffic it takes about 1 to 2 hours - early morning it takes just 20 minutes), during normal business hours - so figure that into your schedule. The hotel is spread over several acres with the room being one main building and the restaurants in separate buildings. Breakfast is nice with a good selection of both western (eggs, sausages) and Indian (dosas, iddlis, etc). The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful - they were eager to offer suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. The hotel is a 15 minute drive from the main tourist spots (Thamil and the Durbar road) and it is easy to get taxis to take you to these places and back. Rooms are comfortable and a bit dated but clean. Turn down service is standard. There are coffee machines and safes in every room. The outdoor pool was closed for renovation. All in all a very comfortable stay

Typical International Hotel - Comfortable but little character - good power supply, which is a big plus in Kathmandu - quite nice grounds (an oasis in the hustle and bustle of the chaotic city) - good breakfasts and very good Chinese restaurant. Offers a welcome level of comfort but the hotel could be anywhere - a nice break to offer some respite in a country which generally offers more character than comfort.

The Crowne Plaza Soaltee is surrounded by gardens which alleviate the massive pollution of Kathmandu. However because it is so far out from other venues, one is more or less forced to eat in the restaurants. Service is slow, and there is not much variety on the menus. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The Internet connection was intermittent. The staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel is a little far out if you want to explore the many shopping areas of Kathmandu. So if you want to explore you have to use a taxi. Riding in taxis in Kathmandu is a nightmare of honking horns, traffic jams and millions of motor bikes. Being a pedestrian is hazardous even if you want to browse in side streets.

VERY EXPENSIVE FOR A COUNTRY OF THAT SIZE AND LEVEL. Many things did not work in room: broken haidrier, leaking ceiling, shower itself is broken and the bathroom is dirty. Food unreasonably expensive. It does look good.

The Soaltee is in a compound, quite separate from the neighborhood, which, like most of Kathmandu, is crowded and poverty stricken. The hotel facilities are very good with four restaurants, a bar, a pastry station, exercise room, swimming pool, etc. The service is EXCELLENT. Taxis are readily available. Staff is helpful with suggestions. We recommend the Soaltee highly.

The hotel is expensive for what you get. There are better options in the city with much lower rates and much newer rooms. However, the service was very good. The non-smoking rooms are in better condition. There are several restaurants if you do not want to leave the hotel at night...or are too tired to do so.

Hotel in Maintenance
The hotel is beautiful and the service was very good. However, they are remodeling one wing of the hotel and they couldn't accommodate us in a room in the other building. There was a lot of noise during the day and we just wanted to rest (which was impossible). Some of the areas in the hotel look very old, although I assume that with the noisy remodeling will definitely improve. The hotel is also very far from Kathmandu's tourist area (Thamel) so there is nothing withing walking distance. Otherwise the hotel is very nice and recommendable. If you want to be out of the chaos of the city, you should consider this hotel.
