It was okay

The staff was friendly and very helpful. This hotel is a little older, needs a little updating paint and furniture. Could be a little cleaner, and there were four to five insects in my room. Oh and part of my shower door was missing.

Great location in very close proximity to Sultanahmet & Hagia Sophia Mosque. Very clean. Worth noting there is no restaurant so breakfast is not provided. I thought breakfast was included when booked but there are good food options in nearby.

I felt like i was camping in Istanbul. The bed was rock hard and the pillow not much softer. And, as the water heater was broken, all showers were done with cool water. It does wake you up, but not what i was looking for. It took five days of our six day stay to get hot water. Istanbul was great, but i would skip the hotel.

Room stubo of mould and we eventually started to have breathing difficulties in tie property. The next day all of us were ill. Were were given a refund for the remainder of our night but this ruined our stay in istanbul. We has a 1 year old infant with us. It is very irresponsible to gove a room in this condition to anyone, yet alone a family with a child. There was also a thick layer of dust above the ac, lighting and very dirty rug in the room. We eventually found another property across the road that was both cheaper and much cleaner.

Very well placed hotel but in very poor conditions. The quality of linen and towels is very low and the noise from the street is very high. We do not recommend this hotel.

Pleasant Traditional Hotel

Very happy with my stay here. The location was ideal, just a 5 minutes or so walk from the most famous must see attractions of Istanbul.

Very helpful staff. Price was reasonable. Every day cleaning service. They do not have breakfast service but lot of places in the area.

I liked the area around the property. The service was not bad, and owners were good. Internet was so slow and bad, all the time I was using my data plan. The value of the money is more way high for this property, furniture is so old and wardrobe was broken, and it was noisy.

My wife and I had a good stay at Hotel Basileus for a couple of nights before starting a cruise out of Istanbul. The hotel is not fancy, but it was a great value. Some highlights worth noting were: - Very low price - Great location, a short walk from most of the major tourist sites in Istanbul's old city - Quiet neighborhood but close to everything - Extremely helpful staff, especially Kenan, who provided good recommendations for places to eat and things to do. Check out Basileus if you are looking for a great value in a place to stay in Istanbul.

Amazing staff

Enjoyed our stay. The staff in the lobby is so friendly. They are courteous. Kept getting up to help us with the baby stroller. Even lended me money while I got mine changed lol. Overall, felt very safe in a new country with these guys. Highly recommended. Oh and yes, the water and tea in the room is free.

Pleasant and Excellently Situated Tourist Hotel

Very pleasant hotel with extremely helpful staff situated within easy walking district of the most popular tourist attractions - Hagia Sofya, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc. Not the lap of luxury but extremely good value at the price.

Super Staff

It was a fantastic stay. The staff was super helpful. Ali gave us an excellent overview of the city and all the tourist spots. Even gave us tips to save money in shopping and dining. Gave free maps. Arranged sunset bosphorous cruise tour and airport pickup for us. I couldnt have asked for a better and more helpful person esp while travelling with my family with 3 under 10 kids. The hotel is conveniently located within 5-10 min walk of Sultan Ahmet square. Surrounded by many shops and restaurants. It was an excellent decision to pick this hotel over others as there were many options when I was making reservation. I highly recommend it.

Ali in particular was incredibly helpful! He gave us a map and highlighted all the noteworthy places to visit and told us how to get there. He answered all our questions and offered us recommendations and advice. Ahmet too was great. When we arrived at the hotel at 3am because of delays, he stayed in the hotel lobby to let us in. He was a bit boggled so didn't tell us certain key pieces of info, but we can't blame him. The hotel itself was nice with air conditioned rooms. The room was of a good size and the bathroom was lovely. The shower was great and I loved the soft water, did wonders for my hair! The bed was so comfortable and I wish I could replace my own bed with the bed there. Location was perfect, all the major landmarks were very close (Hagia Sofia was about 15 minutes away by walking) and there were lots of shops and restaurants close by. The staff will happily arrange a taxi for you if needed and can help you with anything you need. Room service was done daily, with towels and water bottles replaced but all our stuff was untouched. Overall, a great experience and I'd be happy to stay here again. Do try and arrive during the day if possible as this makes things easier for all.
