This property was a DUMP!!! I have booked multiple properties in many locations through Expedia and have come to expect that anything in their list would provide a good experience. This is NOT the case with Hotel Europa. There was no air-conditioning in the rooms -- the unit was there but the control knob was broken and it did not work. We kept the window open, but it was loud and noisy much of the night. There was no WI-FI on the property at all. The hotel clerk told us that the internet provider had recently been changed and that there had been no WI-FI for several weeks. We had to go to a local restaurant to get WI-FI so our phones would work. One person in our party was flying back to the US from Genoa and he could not get airline notifications because there was no WI-FI at Hotel Europa. I chose this property because it was close to the train station, but I am highly disappointed that Hotel Europa is still in your list for Genoa with a 3.6/5 rating and a "good" beside it. This property should be removed from your list. This has made me wary of actually believing the Expedia ratings and I no longer plan to book any of my travel accommodations through Expedia because of this terrible experience.

Cute stay
The hotel itself is very convenient and nice. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was the internet not working. I intentionally chose hotels that had parking and wifi because I'm teaching an online course while away from the states. They did remove the 1 night parking fee because of this so between using some international data and using wifi at the very cute restaurant at the top of the hill, it worked out.

Great location, helpful staff, nice room with everything we needed. Bed and pillows were on the hard side but that's something we're finding in general in Italy. Would definitely recommend!

Location is great, only a couple of minutes from the main train station and 10 mins from the cruise terminal. It is also walking distance to the city center, about 20 mins walk. Continental breakfast was nice. Room/bed were comfortable, though carpet is very old.

Genoa value
Excellent service, we were allowed to check in early morning. WiFi was excellent, breakfast large and varied. Location perfect, 5 minutes to train station, 15 to cruise ship dock. Only complaint would be bathrooms were very small and cramped.

Old hotel, air conditioning didn't work on first night - outside temperature 36C - very uncomfortable, couldn't sleep! Second night AC fixed but didn't make room cool just warmish. Hotel full for the weekend. Breakfast was iffy! Reception staff friendly and excellent. Wonderful location close to cruise port, train station and bus to airport - just wished we had chosen a better hotel in same location.

Good location good price
Enjoyed our stay in Genoa. Picked this hotel mainly for the price and location 5 min walk to main railway station, which is also first stop for Airport bus. The hotel is clean and staff are helpful. We did not use the breakfast facilities as was €10pp and there were places to eat nearby including lother of cafes in the station which works out well if catching the train. The room was OK, spacious and had air con, fridge (includes free bottled water) Kettle (only tea bags and sugar provided-no milk or coffee!) Bed was good size, comfy and clean sheets. We had a few days down the coast visiting 3 of the Cinque Terrestrial towns in one day (Riomaggiore, Manarola and Vernazzo - recommended!) We also visited some coastal towns nearer genoa.

Very Disappointing
We stayed here while traveling through Genoa. The hotel room was extremely small, and the lights were so dim we could barely read with all the lights in the room on. The "continental breakfast" area was full in the morning, and we were prohibited from grabbing some food and eating it elsewhere. If you leave the hotel and walk towards the wharf, take the main roads. We had not run into any issues anywhere else in Italy, but we felt extremely unsafe anywhere but the main roads. Would not recommend Genoa, and certainly would not recommend this hotel.

The place was realy convenient.
The place was nice. The staff were very nice and helpful. The place was easy and well placed in the area. But the hotel needs a lot of work. The carpets need to be removed, stained and a bit smelly. The fridge did not work, but we were happy they gave us a discount. The bathroom is not very well placed. The door opens up on to the toilet paper, so you have to close the door to reach it. The door closes onto the basin and almost hits the toilet bowl. The distance from the toilet bowl to shower is realy close, so my husband could not sit or stand with out hitting the shower door. Also the shower spout did not stay up as it was loose and it was not fixed for the 4days. Showing was difficult.

Convenient hotel for the budget conscious
The hotel was okay, it's a little warm in the room for someone from Canada who is used to cool weather. The air conditioner was not running during our stay in September. We checked out early morning at 2:15 AM to go to the airport and the hotel manager did not inform us that the Genoa International airport will not open until 4:30 AM so we had to wait outside the airport for 2 1/2 hours outside until it opens. We lost precious sleep for nothing. We thought informing your customers about airport operations should be common knowledge for hotel managers. The lack of restaurant from the hotel was not a problem because there were plenty nearby. We arrived early at 10:00 AM and check in is at 2:00 PM but the hotel was able to accommodate us early which is good because they don't have storage for luggage. This is not always the case according to the manager. The hotel was typical for older European cities with small rooms and functional tiny elevators. Water for shower and washing is great, good pressure but the shower leaks to the floor and can be messy. Good for a short visit but not for longer stays in my opinion. It is close to the cruise ship port and about 20 minutes to the airport. Be prepared to haul your luggage from the main street to the hotel which is about 20 meters away because the taxi does not want to enter the narrow street.

Convenient to train station
The hotel was clean and breakfast basic but plentiful. There was no air conditioning as with most European hotels but was reasonably quiet with the windows open. Less than 5 mins walk to the train station and about 10 mins to the harbour area. Lots of good reasonably priced places to eat near by. Would stay again.

Review of Comfort Europa Hotel, Genoa
We were in Genoa overnight and wanted to stay somewhere central with parking facilities. We were delighted with the experience - the staff were very helpful and friendly. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Genoa.

Not your regular Comfort Inn establishment
This hotel was not easy to find. We were looking for a Comfort Inn sign but it was hidden from the Main Street. When we checked in, we noticed the air conditioner was not working. We notified the front desk immediately. We had to open the windows to catch a breeze. Even though we were there for two nights, the A/C never got fixed. The shower head was broken as well as one of the lights by the bed side. This was not what we were expecting from a Comfort Inn establishment. Breakfast was adequate, more like a continental breakfast, not one we get from a USA Comfort Inn! The only good thing was it was close to a train station.

Very conveniently located near the train station. But there's a substantial hill to go down to reach the entrance, so not good for anyone with limited mobility. The rooms were fine in terms of size, but although non-smoking rooms, previous occupants clearly paid no attention. The staff was reserved but helpful when approached with questions.

Great location, however, very hard to find on a satnav. The hotel is very old and could do with updating. The safe in the room could be picked up and removed, so was obsolete. Some tea/coffee making facilities in the room would be good, also. Breakfast was ok.

Nice, average, clean room. Seems a little dated and needs to be updated. Still uses old key set to lock doors, wi-fi was slow and intermittent, toilet leaked, elevator small and slow. Desk attendant at check-in was unfriendly and not very helpful. Had to ask about room amenities, wi-fi access, and recommendations for local attractions, restaurants, and getting around town. Desk attendant at night was much better. 5 min walk from the train station which was great. Overall good experience. Can easily gain a couple of stars with some updating and better customer service.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We visited the university, the royal museum and the aquarium; they were all walking distance from the hotel. Also, the train is less than a five minute walk from our room. It was so convenient

We had a two day wait for our cruise departing in Savona, so staying in Genoa was a good choice. The staff was very helpful, the location to the train station was just minutes away and the local restaurants were wonderful. We were just minutes from a few museums and the waterfront, so the hotel was ideal. On our return I'm booking there again...

Our main goal in staying in Genoa was to be able to easily go to Milan and the Cinque Terre. Since the hotel was so close to the train station, it was so convenient. Morning breakfast was adequate and the rooms were large and clean. Free wi fi was great! Front desk staff were very friendly and provided great service.

Just a place to sleep- but not very comfortable
Great central location but not that comfortable. AC doesn't blow cold, even though it lists AC. Also, they turn it off completely in the mornings. Don't think it was worth the money I spent. It is more like a motel than a hotel; more comfortable than a hostel probably.
