From the outside this hotel is stunning and is in a beautiful location, however, i was in a room with an ajoining door (that was locked) but you could still hear the guests talking in the other room, at night the doors in the corridor are constantly slamming, i could not find a thermostate or any instructions to turn down the heating, i think the most disappointing feature for me was the bathroom, i am 5'11" and i had a wash basin that was about 2' off the ground! cleaning my teeth was not very comfortatble, the shower was in a bath with a shower curtain, the electric extractor fan was about 2" away from the shower head, not even sure if this is legal, the shower was unable to maintain a constant temperature, the ceiling above the shower is covered in mould, and the water did not drain from the bath when you were having a shower, the bath filled up, i decided to turn the taps on and try and jet some water down the plub hole, big mistake! the amount of hair that shot up into the bath was disgusting! The continental breakfast is ok, and i ate in the restaurant one evening, again the food was ok, service is slow, the most unpleasant part of the stay was in the main bar, one evening two members of bar staff were having a heated argument in front of guests. such a shame! on a plus side, this hotel is located very close to port of leith tram stop, so not too far to lug your cases, and you can walk to the Royal Ship Britannia.
