A reasonable place to staying

The staff were super friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast was good (good for a 2-star hotel). The price was a little high for what they offer, could be due to the high demand time.

Location is pretty good but condition of the hotel is not great. Also only have one type of soap dispenser in room with really strong soap that isn't good for your skin. The tea kettle was also questionably clean. The lift also did not work when I arrived. Way over priced for what you're getting.

Probably will not go again unless refurbed.
Hotel is badly in need of a refurbishment. Hair dryer in room not only not working, but wiring frayed so therefore dangerous. Tried to ring reception for portable hair dryer and report fault only to find phone not working either. People on reception friendly and helpful also the cleaners.

Very central, overlooks beautiful canal. However, it's also a bit noisy from traffic - and from the adjacent Portobello bar/pub downstairs with loud crowds, disco and live music! Better for young clientele that an old single like me!

I wouldn’t say there was anything I liked. The first night we stayed our plugs in the room were not working so we were unable to charge anything in the room. We weren’t able to get another room untill the next day. Which ment we didn’t have a room from 11-4. The next room was okay. The key wasn’t working to begin with then the toilet wouldn’t flush. I would say over all horrible experience especially after paying €350 it was not worth it and very Disappointing. We also got told we would get a ‘ discomfort’ fee back but that never happened.

Staff was wonderful and helpful. And it wS surprisingly quiet. Property is tired. Reasonably clean. bathroom faucet was loose and bath tub not scrubbed (we did arrive early so housekeeping was rushed). Staff gave excellent off property restaurant recommendations. We’re fully booked.

the bed (matres)was not good. to old !! wene I Opend the windows at all times there was strong smell of cooking ham or egss , I had to shout the windows at all times. cant imagine what turist do at sunny or summers day. the shawer didnt have a strong flow of water .the stufe where real nice !

Late check-in was friendly and efficient. The room itself was very comfortable, clean and in good condition; however the bathroom was probably due an upgrade with a faint smell of damp and tired fixtures and fittings. Breakfast in the bar downstairs was fine. The common parts were in the process of being redecorated to a good standard.

At over €250 a night I thought the room was a little 'tired' - but there is a dire shortage of hotel space in Dublin. The (Irish) breakfast was awful I'm afraid: cheap orange juice, coffee stewed to hell, shrivelled bacon (one meagre rasher), tasteless egg, sausage made of sawdust, black pudding made of even worse sawdust. In Ireland - where MacSween's black pudding comes from? This plus the overweening smell of disinfectant from the bar......

Good but noisy
Hotel has a great location, super friendly staff, fantastic breakfast (with superb service). However, 1st floor rooms are positioned above the pub which is very loud Thu-Sun with music until 3am. Window sound isolation is really bad. If you are not there for a party, make sure you book the rooms in 2nd and 3rd floor, or you will regret it.

The staff were amazing and friendly. I can’t say enough about how great they were. The hotel is in central Dublin and over a bar so it can be a bit loud but I didn’t think it was to bad. It was however very hot in the room as they do not have AC and only a small fan. If they were to update and offer AC I think it would make a world of difference with regard to noise and comfort in the summer. Would be better for winter visiting.

Bed a bit saggy pillows flat but slept ok. Nice selection of eateries close by. Loved the canal and the Friday night crowds that enjoy the ambiance of the area

Great weekend
Hotel was great, staff were so helpful and really friendly. Room was really clean and cosy with loads of tea, coffee and extra amenities included. It's also a short walk from the city centre with parking available right outside the hotel. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice place, great family room, very noisy
Great service, wonderfully friendly staff. However this hotel is very noisy. The bar below plays music until 2:30am. It was very loud in the rooms. Recommend families do not stay on the 1st floor. If you are out until late it will not be a problem but it was not great for my younger family. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast awesome. So a mixed review.

Within walking distance to the city
Close to city but out far enough to be quiet. Lots of free amenities to make your stay comfortable. Great breakfast. Big room.

Had to stay in Dublin for a night, and without a huge research based on pictures alone i booked a room. Hotel was dated and nothing like on a pictures, bedroom was comfortable had two single beds and lots of space. one mattress was very unconfortable so had to move in a middle of the night. However my biggest problem was a loud music until 3 am . Hardly slept and despite given so many ear plugs it felt i was on a dance floor myself. Not for a person looking to rest but if u are heading to Dublin for a jolly then its perfect. Hotel receptionists were fantastic

Fantastic stay.
I had a fantastic stay, the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it.

We stayed at the Portobello Hotel on our last night in Dublin. It was easy to find, but parking is sparse. We scored a street spot outside, but had to pay until 6:30 pm. The staff was great - gave us a recommendation for a laundromat and we went down and ended up having them wash and fold our laundry on a rush (picked up 3 hours later). Quick to grab an Uber to explore Temple Bar and other parts of the city. The room was very clean and was remodeled. Quiet place to sleep in spite of being in the city. Will definitely stay again.

Perfect location, no parking close by though and ended up being clamped. Room 106 needs to have the door refitted and TV updated. Water pressure in shower also was not the best. for a last minute cheaper hotel it was ok.

Rooms fine but very noisy and dreadful wifi
Room was fine - nice and big. Really loud music from the bar that kept on until 2 30 a.m. even on a Wednesday night. Wifi worked 10% of the time. Pity as the hotel itself is fine and a pleasant view over the canal.
