First impressions and curb appeal
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was no "Do not disturb sign to hang on the door or sign to indicate maid service or not. Upon arrival a city police car patrolled the parking lot 3 times before we were checked in. Parking lot was littered upon arrival and only accumulated more during our 3 night stay. Due to COVID there was no access to lobby only security window used for night access. There were 2 large cargo shipping containers in the parking lot taking up 6 or 8 parking spaces. One had a mattress behind it I had asked for a deluxe room downstairs and was assigned a room upstairs. upon asking I was told there were only rooms with 2 beds downstairs. and it would cost more for those. It was difficult for us, as senior citizens, to climb the stairs with our luggage. One of the stairways had a handrail that was too close to the wall near the top (ouch). On the whole, the beds were comfortable and we did sleep well, but emotionally it was not a good feeling to be there.

Smelled strongly of cigarette smoke
We chose a non-smoking room but the moment we walked in it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The bed sheets and pillow covers smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The towels were not entirely clean, one had a stain like if it was used for cleaning instead for guests. They did not give us enough towels for two people and no hair dryer available.

The guy at the front counter tried to tell me that I couldn't have gas and if I did want guests they have to show their ID and only me and one other person could be at the room that is way out

I've stayed at Motel 6s across the country. Never have I been so scared to take my dogs out. Random people knocking on my door and people fighting outside. I felt very unsafe, but the room was clean and like any other Motel 6.

The room was not clean, there was no remote for the television and the heater only blew cold air making our room freezing all night. We were told it would be an additional charge to move rooms for a functional heater and remote due to shortage of rooms even though hotel had 5 rooms occupied on my side of the building! Management lied about split payment options the next day also!

I paid more, for less. I get it, they want to make money. But i recently stayed at a Gilroy property with WAY better options. The bed was old and squeaky, no stove top to cook. And somehow it gave me a smoking room? The worst part, the room nextdoor were partinging ALL night, and I barely slept? Plus, a clogged bathroom sink! A free night and upgrade SHOULD be offered!

Nothing much unique, motel 6 is a bare bones hotel so that's not surprising. It's an older hotel, seems they updated the furnishings in the rooms, but certainly not the insulation between them or above them. Also, getting better windows csince it's by a very busy street would be nice. Very noisy traffic noise and voices could easily be heard even in my room toward the back off the street.
