“The pool does not open until Memorial Day ..”

The real jewel in the crown at the Holiday Inn Conference Centre are the staff. The bartender who was so apologetic after we waited nearly an hour for supper, the lovely lady on reception who apologised to me every day for the pool being closed and Debbie who truly understood the meaning of that little British quirk - hot tea with cold milk. I was so well looked after by them and really felt welcome. The absolute killer for me was the fact that I booked this hotel for my daughter and I to relax by the pool after a busy week in Chicago. Temperatures were soaring into the thirties and we were looking forward to a week of swimming and sunbathing. I was absolutely astounded to learn the pool was "closed for season". Nowhere on the website does it mention this. Sadly we were forced to stay mostly in the room or to go the Mall as there is little else to do in Joliet without a car. A very disappointing week in Illinois and I have e-mailed you direct with my complaint as I categorically would not have booked this hotel with no access to a means of cooling down when not used to these temperatures.
