The place is older but really well-kept. I'm very picky about the cleanliness of places and the reviews that rated it highly for cleanliness was accurate. The staff are all very kind and courteous. I felt that they sincerely wanted to make my stay a comfortable one. The free breakfast was much better than I expected! Many hotels only offer stale croissants, but they have a waffle maker (with a machine that dispenses the perfect amount of batter!)! They also had boiled eggs, yogurt, and a variety of pastries, and cereal. Oatmeal you could make fresh. It was really a very thoughtful spread. Much better than I've had at many pricier hotels. I'm a single female, traveling in my own and appreciated that all the guests I encountered in the hallways and at breakfast were really nice. I was in town for work at University of Calgary's medical campus and it was a quick Uber ride there. Some folks who live in Calgary didn't think the area was safe, but I had no issues. I did not walk around the neighbourhood as I always had plans away from the hotel so it wasn't an issue for me at all. Overall, I would highly recommend this place, especially for those on a budget.
