Excellent value for money. Breakfast particularly good, freshly cooked hot and tasty. Beds comfortable and generally quiet hotel. It's a little shabby round the edges but feels like they care about little improvements. Overall good

Absolutely dreadful. No hot water in our bathroom. Heaters shut down during certain hours. The windows are mouldy with no isolation at all. No one at reception at night on Sunday. I can’t believe any of the good comments on expedia about that establishment. Absolutely revolting. I have pictures supporting each of my comments.

My stay was good. Breakfast was good quality and fast service. Better stay than some major chain hotels. Price was the cheapest in the area close to the city center so wasn't expecting much but I was plesantly suprised. The reception desk staff were good athough the lady on the desk didn't seem to sure about the parking arangements on the street as the limited parking that the hotel can supply at a cost (this was explained in a pre check in email) was full. Breakfast staff were welcoming and service was very good I was in Bristol for a catch up with a friend (alcohol was involved) so I wasn't too bothered but the room could do with a being redecorated at there was obvious old signs of water damage above the bed.

Staff and location were really good can’t fault it. Breakfast was average but cant complain as was included. Room was dated but clean. Only problem I found was really squeaky floors that woke me up a fair few times from the rooms above. This was a lower ground floor room so possibly just an issue down there. Was fit for a quick stay would stay again.

Stayed for 1 night to attend a Christmas party in Bristol. Very good location- under £10 taxi ride to the station or to city centre. Receptionists were super helpful. Room was simple but clean and the bed is so comfortable and bedding super white. Car park also available. Very pleased!

Broken door lock
The hotel was great and very comfy. Although when I arrived at the room, the door did not lock. I waited 2.5 hours for maintenance but I had to go out. I had no option to leave the room unlocked. When I arrived back at the room the lock was fixed. Although upon leaving the next morning the lock was stuck and had to call reception to let me out from the outside, I tried the hotel room phone but it did not work. Fortunately I was able to call the reception from a number on the internet. Overall, apart from this the stay was very comfy and pleasant

It's cheap for a reason
It's cheap, with a reason. Nice staff at reception and in the breakfast room, apples and biscuits in the room were a nice touch too, and the room had a decent TV. However, the place is well worn to say the least. Uneven floors, damp marks on the ceiling and quite a few moldy areas in the room. I've often wondered if these sorts of places keep the fancy named bottle of shampoo etc. and simply refill them from budget items. The rust on the conditioner bottle in the shower answered this. Decent quality loo paper which was a plus. Mine was a small room with a small bathroom, the bed was barely a double so if you're staying with someone make sure you're well acquainted! Reasonable breakfast which was served by a very friendly lady. Overall, bearable but I won't be rushing back

Good location being close to the city centre. Nice breakfast. Hotel room was very dated and needed complete refurbishment. Chipped enamel bath, broken toilet seat, rotten draughty window frames and dirty carpets.

Fire risk at the Washington Hotel
When I attempted to go for breakfast my door wouldn't open so I had to wait for someone to break in. When I went to reception to complain and point out the safety issues having a locked door in a fire, the hotel said they would give me a full refund that day. Now, a week later, they have not yet refunded any money and have decided they will only refund 50%.

The room was situated in a noisy part of the building and there was mould in the bathroom. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room was very dusty. The window that gave onto a big road could not be closed. The TV did not have a remote. The parking was very small. It is a pity that amenities were very poor because the staff were lovely especially at breakfast and reception.

The Washington is one of my favorite hotels. I have stayed there several times and plan to stay there any time I visit Bristol. The staff is exceptionally competent, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the guests’ comfort. This last visit Alice, Kate, Irune, and Sumiya on the front desk, Bea, Amelia, Soffie, Abi, and Rabiya in the breakfast room, and Emily, Ruby, and Natasha in housekeeping all went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Its’s a great place to stay and I look forward to to returning.

This is a great location for walking into Clifton which is a lovely part of town. Unfortunately the hotel is let down by investment in facilities and maintenance. The sanitary ware in the bathroom was exceedingly clean. Unfortunately the pipes had long term dirt and dust which let down the other clean bathroom. This is not caused by the staff but a lack of time allowed for cleaning. Beds were clean and comfortable as was the rest of the room. Furniture had seen better days as had the walls. There was evidence of investment happening so I wish this hotel well for the future.

Room was like a sauna, no fans or air con and understandably, hottest day of the year, but rooms at night and during day were unbearable to be in. Limited parking though paid to stay there and no space to park. Offered a permit which is helpful but need to pay £9 to use it. Dining area limited and even at the time booked to eat, was full up so had to wait to get a seat. Staff were very friendly and helpful so cannot fault this, but would not recommend if you do not like hot rooms or cramped areas.

The hotel was good for the money, but the room and bathroom were a bit shabby and need up dating. The breakfast was OK but I was expecting a cooked breakfast, but that might have been my mistake when I read the information on the hotel.

The staff were very helpful and welcoming which made the stay bearable. They were quick to respond to requests for help and information. Beds were comfortable and linens good quality.The breakfast was decent too. Sadly the property was in a state and had been neglected for years with no visible signs of updating. It was shabby, carpets and walls were stained, our shower leaked and eventually broke. There were physical signs of damp. It was a shame as the state of the hotel was not reflected in either the price we paid or in the photos online.

The staff on reception, and at breakfast, were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was ok, reasonable quality, and certainly enough food. Now the downsides. The bathroom was really dirty. The shower gel and shampoo holder did not work so I removed the gel to use it. There was what would best be described as thick, brown gunk underneath the gel on the metal tray. The water did not drain out of the shower so it filled up as you showered. The floor had not been cleaned, the bin was filthy, there were patches of mould everywhere. There was someone else's toe nail clipping on the bedroom carpet. The electrical appliances had not been tested for several years. All in all not good at all!

Tired in places & housekeeping, but attentive & professional, friendly staff throughtout (3night stay). Clean bedding&towels. There was an issue with room maintenance, but resolved during stay. Breakfast (included), was good (vegi sausages not personal pref), poached eggs, perfect, plenty of choice, nothing too much trouble for team. Safe, warm & issues resolved with friendly team. Parking wasn't an issue (£9per day, if spaces available). Affordable & realistic, in good area of city, close to other, higher £ places. Would go back.

The hotel is in a good convenient part of Bristol and the street is pretty quiet. Definitely a lot cheaper than many other hotels in the city too. However, it would be nice to modernize a lot of the hotel's facilities e.g. door locks, showers. Big plus to have some herbal tea options in the room though. Much better than boring old English tea!

The staff service was 1st class
Well located for east access to the main places in town. What made our trip enjoyable was the super friendly and helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble and all with a smile. Good to see Vegan breakfast on the menu.
