Not your average airport hotel
Do not be misled by the pictures, this 70 room hotel is actually a small cafeteria-style breakfast area and foyer on the ground floor and bedrooms on the fifth floor. If you are not keen on the tiny glass elevator over the dustbins, that is quite a climb up an inhospitable staircase (240 steps, to be precise). Our children's room was quite a way from ours, despite our advance request for closeness. This was probably for the best, as the children were not kept awake by the all-night chatting, laughing and singing from other guests (or residents? who knows what was going on on the other floors of this building) echoing up through the building. Nor were they troubled by the stench of fresh sewage that entertained us. They did, however, quickly discover the inviting wide window ledges with fully opening windows (near miss. This was particularly surprising as the windows were modern and had spaces for locks/limitors which could easily have been fitted). Ah well, we can have a cup of coffee. No. The restaurant is only open for breakfast. The tea and coffee making facilities consisted of a kettle, no cups and one sachet of nescafe. Breakfast was inadequate. With one lady to serve and no self-service, it was slow. The options were a ham roll, a croissant or tortilla - and no, you cannot have two items. with nothing suitable for our lactose- and gluten-sensitive child, we had our own cereal and milk, but were told off for helping ourselves to a bowl and spoon from a pile nearby.

The building is very nice, the elevators a bit noisy, but offer a nice view while going up or down. The room was comfortable, the staff courteous enough, though seemed a bit odd. The foot in the restaurant was wonderful.

Great airport hotel
Check in was quick and easy, and arranging a shuttle for the airport when I checked in was simple as well. They took the initiative to call our room in the morning to make sure we were on our way. Having some more information online on the restaurant would be great though, so we could plan for food

Nice Place
The inside of the hotel is not what you would expect when seeing the exterior. The rooms are very roomy and clean and very modern. We stayed our last night in Bilbao before returning home here and we enjoyed it.

we greeted at reception by a very helpful and informative guy who give us all the details re getting to the airport. The room was clean and tidy and comfortable perfect for a stay before or after flights, all good. Oh, wait there was the problem of being woken by a group of young people clearly excited about their trip which is great. However they hotel saw fit to put us in the middle of this group who were running about from room to room shouting laughing and screaming and they even woke me up and I am an extremely heavy sleeper. it was not the young peoples fault more the hotels for putting us in this room in the middle of this group Thanks

I booked a triple room because it was close to the airport for me and my two grown children. My son and i were flying out early in the morning back to Canada and my daughter whom lives in Spain had come from San Sebastián to see us off. When i got to the hotel (which looks like an insane asylum from the outside) he front desk demanded passports from us all even though I was paying for the room and gave a credit card my passport etc. well my daughter whom wasn’t traveling didn’t have a passport with her so he wasn’t going to allow us to check in. This was extremely stressful as we were in the middle of no where late in the evening and language was an issue. After arguing that nowhere on my reservation did it say all guest must provide a passport to stay my daughter ended up speaking to a manager on the phone and finally they allowed use to check in. I will say the room was way better then I thought it would be and very spacious. It’s just too bad the staff was rude and there’s no where to eat late at night. Plus you must check in by midnight for some reason as well.

Proximity to airport and price are the main positives. Room was comfortable. The downside to this hotel is distance to downtown and lack of any restaurants/bars/activities near the hotel. Hotel is only on the 5th floor and its a BIG building. Hallway is dark with a deep red carpet.

The strangest hotel ever! Was it converted from army barracks or an asylum? Would be interesting to know. While the room had a minimalist setting, the place was clean and the staff (of one) pleasant. Very depressing but very convenient to the airport and fine for a one night stay.

Modern room, close to airport.
We chose this hotel for our family because it was close to the Bilbao airport (for 7am flight the next morning) and offered a free shuttle service. The check in was quick and the receptionist spoke English well. There is also a restaurant onsite, which is convenient because otherwise you need a car or taxi to get food. The restaurant food was adequate and the staff was very attentive. We were also looking forward to using the sports complex described, but when we got there it was all locked/closed up. The hotel staff couldn't tell us the hours. You should also know that the hotel is actually just one floor of a giant old building that houses various other businesses and offices. Parts of the building looked to be unused and in disrepair. Seems like it's an effort to revitalize an historic building for multiple uses. The hotel room itself was modern, spacious and clean. There is no air conditioner and no fan, so if it's hot, you need to sleep with the windows open (and can hear airplanes taking off/landing until about midnight).

Very pleasant helpful staff. Easy check-in. Marvelous little bar / restaurant. Location right off the highway less than 5 minutes from the airport is perfect for travelers looking to catch an early flight next morning. The room itself was as plain, generic as possible. No decorations, no personality, linoleum floors, but functional for a good night's sleep and a nice shave and tooth toothbrushing in the morning.

I chose this hotel because of its vicinity to the airport and because it has a very convenient bus shuttle to it. This is a building that is shared with other businesses. The hotel lobby is on the entrance floor, that can be accessed through an elevator outside of the building (wasn´t in working order during my stay) or a long set of stairs. The hotel rooms occupy the whole 5th floor. Rooms are simple and clean, with the basic needs. I liked the room, the hotel, and the fact that there is a cafeteria/restaurant by the lobby which makes easy to have a quick snack or something to go without needing to leave the building, as there is nothing else in the area. If I need to stay in a hotel close to the airport again, I will certainly stay here again.

Not good to start with. We were given one of the worst rooms in the hotel. Smelling of damp, a broken and dirty fridge. This disappointed us big time as when we demanded a better room, we realised most rooms had been upgraded and yet we were given an old dated room. I could not help think maybe it was our skin colour that the check-in personnel felt deserved such a room. On our request, we were moved into one of the upgraded rooms. Better, clean room. Had space for a fridge, but there was none. We decided not to bother asking. We felt the hotel staff would start labelling us troublemakers, as it is they did not come across as friendly at all! The picture on the website gives the impression of the hotel occupying the whole building. Well noooo, it only occupies one floor. So be ready to be woken up in the wee hours of the morning by workmen making a lot of noise at the back of the hotel. On a plus side, parking is free. However be ready to pay loads of money for train fare to Bilbao. Would we stay again? NO!

Convenient airport hotel
Very noisy due to the sports activities going on (much noisier than the airport traffic in fact). It is convenient to walk to the train station to go into Bilbao center. The hotel room itself was good and was clean etc.

Staying in a big old building
Only the top fifth floor is a hotel the other floor are apparently offices. Can't miss it once in its vicinity; it dominates the skyline. Not a homely place but functional, great car parking space but not secured. Metro can take a while to find although probably only a kilometre away.

The Nightmare Shining Hotel
The front desk staff was very nice. However, they were not that knowledgeable when it came to giving simple answers such as telling us that the shuttle would pick us at the hotel at 4 pm on Sunday when it reality it did not have service in the afternoon. The location of the hotel was horrible and in the middle of an unkept field. It looked like the hotel from the movie The Shining. The night restaurant waitress was rude and very unfriendly!!! The rooms did not have air conditioning and were infested with mosquitoes!!!!! It was a horrific night. We all had over 10-30 mosquito bites!!!!! I would NOT recommend this hotel at all!!!!! Worst hotel that I have ever stayed in Spain.

First of all, there's airport drop-off, but no shuttle, so you can't get picked up FROM the airport. Fine, whatever. The drop-off is a cab they prepay. Secondly, read all pertinent details. The hotel is not the photo: this 5-story former seminary. It is ONE HALLWAY on the seminary, a dimly-lit red-carpeted Overlook Hotel vibe. Your keycard is not magnetized, it's this old hole-punched thing. There is Wi-Fi, but the Wi-Fi logs you out every single time your phone or computer goes to sleep mode. There is NOTHING to do in the region. The nearby town, Derio, bless it, is a run-down slum with zero attraction or food options. As for the rooms: No art. The room feels like vacation jail. Or like a boarding school (or seminary!) They have a strange smell. Ours have three very bright and strange lights, no lamps, no nightstand (just a wall shelf with a single phone on it). So barren it almost ruined what had been a perfect travel day. The pillows smelled like livestock. No air. We had to open the windows because it was freaking hot and so then we got eaten up by mosquitoes all night. No ice machine, no coffee. The "restaurant" is a cafeteria that looks like a bus stop and only serves food from 8-10:30 pm. The bartender is mean and rude. The man at the desk was very kind, and it seems like they can't truly help it. But stay anywhere else, really.
