Clean and lovely rooms although rooms are very small. We couldn’t lay on floor both suitcases. Hotel is down an alleyway which makes it very quiet in rooms but not ideal as far as an entranceway goes. Very convenient to a number of attractions and restaurants in Rome. Also a bus stops close that takes you straight to train station.

Sorrell Hotel Merian is right on the Rhine river and in Center City. You can walk almost everywhere, and we were also provided a free pass for the trams and buses which are plentiful. Staff was very helpful with suggestions and arrangements.

It was extremely warm in Basel and all there was to cool was a small oscillating fan! No A/C. There was a private event the first night and cleanup carried on into the early morning hours. No sleep at all. Asked to move but the hotel was full. Lovely view bit that’s it!

Wonderful price and location

Very clean and comfortable room with a fabulous view of the river below. Beatrice at the front desk was very helpful with resolving a covid testing snafu before our flight home. We would have loved sitting outside on the patio restaurant, but it was not open on a Monday or Tuesday during our stay (October, 2021). Great location for getting around Basel. Would definitely stay here again!

The view of the river was nice and if you wanted to party there was music on the river. However, we needed to leave the hotel at 4:15 am which meant we had to keep the door closed. Without a/c that made for a very hot room, since there was not a/c!

Nice hotel for a city centre stay
Hotel in excellent position with tram stop outside the door! Breakfast good with good choice of hot and cold food on offer. Room rather small (but it was only for me!) with comfortable bed and nice bedlinen. Comfortable armchair to relax in and plenty of storage space. Washbasin was in the room and supplied with good toiletries and nice thick towels but no towel rack! Shower and toilet in seperate room. Lighting OK in room with excellent bedside light. Good sized TV; coffee pod machine provided with pods and teabags,etc. where you could also make tea. Room was quiet with no noise from other rooms but there was a service lift which operated several times during the night and woke me up! Staff friendly and efficient and the reception staff were very helpful and knowedgeable. Plenty of restaurants nearby to try and shopping area just around the corner.

Great location and pleasant stay
Hotel Merian is in a great location and I had a room with a fantastic view of the bridge and river. The hotel itself is a little dated, but very comfortable nonetheless. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet could have been better, but overall it was a pleasant stay.

Hotel is well-located on the Rhine and convenient to the Old Town via a tram or 10 minute walk. Our twin-bedded room was well appointed and comfortable but contained an excess of holiday decorations which needed to be moved in order to make optimum use of tables and luggage space. Given the fact that Switzerland is expensive, we still felt that the breakfast was way over-priced. Beware of sticker shock!

This was a good location to stay;- in the middle of the historical centres . The staff were very helpful , the room was good , the non alcohol items in the mini bar were free , and the included breakfast was great . We also received a free transit pass for our time in Basel.

the temp in Berne was 39C the hotel had no air conditioning and only supplied a fan and said to keep curtains closed It was very bad at night and no pleasure during the day where we thought facing the Rhine would be great but it was not

Beautiful views. Fantastic breakfast.
We were traveling with a group, so we booked the 2 bedroom apartment on the 6th floor. It was dreamy! The views of the river and the old city are beautiful from the balconies. A lovely apartment, seems very new. I couldn’t tell entirely the number of beds from the photos before I booked, there were 5 in total, 2 were about US full bed size, and then 3 twin beds, between the 2 bedrooms. Also not pictured was a half bath, which was helpful. Also, the included hotel breakfast was incredible. Restaurant for dinner was less impressive for food, but was really nice to dine outside by the river.

Transport links were excellent and they include the Basel card in the price of the ghotel for use on public transport for your duration. The itself is good, quiet and spacious. I would recommend to stay again.

Excellent location in front of river. NOTE NO AIR CONDITIONING so summer nights could be brutal. We “lucked” out in that the night was cool so we opened windows but even in fifth floor the street noise was high until past two am. We were able to sleep because we had ear plugs. Breakfast was also excellent
