There are numerous recreational opportunities near the SKYCITY Grand Hotel. Sailing is available around the city's harbour and islands. The Harbour Bridge (3 km) has a famous bungee jump activity, while Sky Tower (just across the road) features a daring activity known as Sky Jump. The large public park known as Auckland Domain (600 metres) is ideal for walking.

Across the Harbour Bridge on the North Shore, Takapuna offers ten-pin bowling and windsurfing on Lake Pupuke (10 km). Coastal walks extend for 25 km and can be joined at Takapuna Beach.
