Need improvement
Not very impressed as I was in the past. Minor items need attention and corrections Most important is the wi fi in fourth floor All tv satellite needs to be replaced Exhaust fan installed in bathroom Complete set of kitchen items br provided This might be my last time in this hotel since the price is not justified

i believe we are in improving , but WiFi in any hotel provide to check email and minor things not for streaming or video call , TV and Satellite working good but i think you have been confuse because you have more than one remote control since we provide a single satellite for every room provide more than 5000 Chanel, fan in bathroom have a little sound like any else small fan , the kitchen set was mange very carefully by our side , any way your reservation was on stander room that come without kitchen but since we make free upgrade on Junior suite , about the price i think its you second time in our hotel and you agree the price since you make the reservation ,Thank you.

Good value for the money
Pros: Location, affordable price, and friendly staff Cons: Poor quality of linens and pillows. Hotel is well located but it is aged. There is a contrast between the quality of linens and pillows (usually important for every hotel) and the technology for lights. The hotel offers you a remote control for illumination, but it doesn't show too much appreciation about linens, blankets and pillows. Suites offer kitchenette with appliances that could be useful for longer stays. During my visit, the elevator was down and there was no WIFI signal at all in my room. Staff was really friendly from check-in and during check-out. Buffet breakfast was fair based on what you pay.

A bit of Venice in Amman, Jordan
Staying at the Gondola Hotel in Amman is like staying on the Grand Canal in Venice. When you look out a window in the lobby, one would almost expect to see a gondola floating by on a canal. The wife of the owner, Mr. Basel, has decorated the apartments and public rooms in the colors and style of a well-to-do Victorian, Venetian home owner. Deep reds and blue predominate with accents in white, the likely colors of the wife of an ancient Doge of Venice. Yet, with all the Venetian trappings, there are some paintings and other artifacts of Arab life, making for a perfect marriage of cultures. When one stays at a usual hotel, seldom does one mix with the staff. Here at the Gondola Hotel, however, it is simply a natural inter-action. I chatted often with Maher, the daytime Desk Clerk and I chatted for hours with Kamal, the nighttime Desk Clerk; my conversations with him made possible by the quieter evening hours. Though Kamal and I did not solve the problems of the world in those conversations, we did come up with many "What if?" possibilities. I learned of Maher and Kamal's friends, family, life and goals and they learned of where my 85 years have taken me. To me, they seemed more like friendly neighbors than staff at a hotel. Indeed, when Maher learned that I lost my cell phone in a taxi in Dubai, he brought in his camera for me to use to take pictures at Petra, one of the Wonders of the Modern World. As a result, we have now become e-mail "buddies". How rare!

Nice Hotel, Good location, friendly staff
Actually, I'm really happy that I found this hotel and I'll never stay in other one when I have any chance to visit Amman. the stuff are very friendly and I never expected that the reception guy Hassan decided to give me his private car to use when I was in harry with my family waiting for a taxi that didn't show up while it's raining.... the Hotel furniture is a little, I stay in Deluxe Suite but next time I'll go for Deluxe Suite, it's less by 10$ but for me is enough for me and my small family. there is all the necessary things to stay comfort, I mean 2 TVs, kitchen with coffee machine, microwave, fridge, ...etc.

Stay Away
Horrible everything was horrible I have no idea how this place can be so highly reviewed. First off the hotel is old and I mean old. Bathtub was peeling bed creaked tv remote was falling apart. This is a 2 star hotel and that's being kind. No water, beverage or even mugs in the room. The linens are ancient and the blanket on the bed looks like something picked up from a discount market. Our room was right next to the Main Street so we heard evrey car going by all night long. Wifi isn't free breakfast isn't free and staff is rude. When asked for a resturant near by I was told to order room service. Location is shady at best the pharmacy tried to overcharge me 5 dinars. There is a night club next door which I guess has hookers because a cabbie outside asked me if I was looking for Syrian or Moroccan girls. The most important detail I did not feel safe with my wife in this hotel. Please don't make the same mistake I did pay a little more and get peace of mind.

Form the moment I walked in I was greeted with a big smile, the staff were beyond friendly. They helped me out big time. Even so I stayed for one day, they guided me to the best Falafel place in town, and even managed to help me getting some site seeing of the beautiful city of Amman The staff gave me a lot of information and resources about the country, and definitely I'm coming back with my family to Jordan and I'll be staying in the Gondola hotel The room was clean, well furnished and very comfortable.

Affordable hotel with large, nice rooms
The rooms are very large and the cleaning staff does a great job keeping them clean. There is a small fridge, a table, night stands, a large flat screen TV with satellite TV (mostly in Arabic), lots of mirrors. The only downside about the room was the bath, which seemed quite "used". The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and spoke good English (unlike most Jordanians). The hotel is located in the 5th circle, West Amman, near Zahran Street, which is full of beautiful, old and well-kept houses. It's 5 minutes by taxi from Rainbow Street and 10 minutes from downtown (al-Balad).

Nice hotel, conveniently located, once you know.
The hotel is situated between The Four Seasons Hotel and The Sheraton Hotel which helps with giving directions to taxis. What also helped was a small set of business cards with the hotel's name in Arabic and your name issued on check in. The staff were helpful. They would happily write the name of any destination in Arabic for us to show to taxi drivers. The room was small but clean and what you would expect for that price. However , tea making facilities would have been nice. There is very little within walking distance, nothing worthy of mention. For 2JD, you can get a taxi right into the Roman Amphitheater area, and for 1JD you can get a taxi to the Galleria Mall and environs. Breakfast was not included so we did not sample the breakfast. On our last morning the receptionist suggested that we breakfast at Hashim's in the city. That was a good suggestion. There was a kitchen but we did not see any evening meals.

Good stay
Over all I enjoyed the stay. The breakfast is great but my only comment is I wish it was included in the price. Staff was nice and room was dated but fine. Very quiet. I might have expected wifi/breakfast included for the price. Cabs are very cheap and easy to find. ATM is across the street and a small convenience store for food.

Wonderful hotel with a pleasant staff and personable manager. For the deal we and service got, we couldn't have asked for anything more luxurious and enjoyable–– even with the Sheraton and Four Seasons so close by. Would recommend to anyone, especially if you like free dates (in the lobby) and nice people!

Five-star service!
This is a budget hotel with a huge heart. I stayed at the Gondola for a two-night quick retreat in March of 2014 and the staff bent over backward to serve me. The hotel is not without its quirks, but the difference is that the staff immediately deals with it....my room-service eggs were cold...they brought me new ones within minutes with profuse apologies. My room safe got stuck....they came up right away and fixed it. I asked for a non-smoking room and there was not one whiff of smoke anywhere on my entire floor, which is rare anywhere in the Mideast. If you have traveled here, you know what I mean! The lobby and restaurant were relatively smoke-free as well. The rooms and public areas have been remodeled in sort of a kitchsy antique style but it makes it seem like you are visiting someone's home. The new laminate floors, however, make things a little noisy and there is not the best sound-proofing without carpeting to absorb sounds. But that is really the only drawback. I will definitely go back to the Gondola as I live in the ME. I felt like I was staying with a family and I half expected to find a chocolate on my pillow and turn-down service! I almost stayed at the Sheraton which is right down the street from the Gondola, but I'm glad I saved my money.

Ordinary hotel, dysfunctional management
The hotel is adequate, nothing special. While the hotel clerk at check in was fine, and was the one to complete payment before we left the next morning, we were then told as we left that we owed for an extra night! Even as we were boarding the hotel minibus to transfer to the airport a woman manager came out to shout at us that we had arrived a day before we actually did. It was a very unpleasant experience that really marred our visit. Now we find our credit card charged for this supposed extra night, even though our passports clearly show we were only in the country for two nights!

Great hotel with one downside
This hotel was overall very good, the rooms were spacious and clean, it was quiet over night and it had good heating. The only issue we had is that they advertised the hotel as non smoking, which is why we specifically booked here. However smoking was allowed throughout, mainly by the staff themselves. The room was sold as non smoking but the ashtrays and cigarette burns in the furniture made this seem not quite accurate. The staff smoked inside continuously, at reception, in the non smoking restaurant, the lobby and on the different floors whilst doing the security checks at night, this made it very unpleasant for non smokers with asthma to stay at this site and was a major downside for us. So I would recommend this hotel if you smoke, however if not I would AVOID

Good hotel for single night or extended stay
Have been staying at this hotel for about six years, maybe a dozen times. It is a road warrior's, or basic essentials, travelers type hotel in its accommodations, finish and the necessary essentials. Obviously far from plush, inside or out, but the hotel staff have always been a bright spot here. Free parking and good free wireless internet included is factual. Access to Queen Alia and the local commuter airport is easy. Local and international mall shopping, a variety of banks, exchanges, etc. and all necessary shops are within immediate and/or casual walking distance. Pretty much anything, including the ruins in the old city center are within a1.5-2.00 JD taxi ride from the hotel. Breakfast, if included, is the standard basic light continental Arabic fare. Again, the staff is Always excellent and responsive when requests are made, the majority of whom speak ready English, or possess at least rudimentary international communication skills . I never hesitate to stay. Some seasons have near 100 % booking tho, and the nearby Syrian conflict have added an additional influx, so prior reservations, which will usually incur a better rate are advised.

Ask Questions and understand the difference
Ask questions about the room. It pays to get a "double" suite but you should understand that a "double" doesn't mean a 2 beds in the room it means that they are "double size beds" and you could end up with only one larger size bed. The more you pay the better room you get. You might also be able to get a better price if you contact the hotel directly. Also make sure you tell them the correct number of people staying in the room or they will charge you 6 JD per person extra. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly. Make your own car/taxi arrangements (the drivers are very friendly) or the hotel takes a cut of whatever fair is agreed upon.

Charming and friendly
I was just in Amman for 2 nights and 1 day. I chose this hotel because of its price and location relative to the airport and the main part of the city. Very unexpectedly, I want to go back to Amman, and if I ever do I would go back to this hotel for its huge, comfortable bed, clean facilities, charming foyer, and friendly helpful service. Also, there's an HSBC ATM just across the street.
