Had the pleasure of staying in this quaint mansion that is a relic of the past. Tina is a wonderful host who is extremely knowledgeable about the area and clearly loves the mansion and town. Check-in was simple, rooms were clean, and home-cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent. If ever in the area, I would absolutely stay again.

Hello John, thank you for the Review, yes we are in the City, very close to the College, so that is what keeps me busy, right on a Busline also, and the Major Highways, I-90 & 787. So yes there is traffic. Some rooms are closer to the Street and then the 2 in the Back that are very quiet. That is why I am priced the way I am. I would LOVE to be out in the Country, very Scenic, but then I. reality I would have very little business. Too far from the College and Highways, and I have to say, great delays getting there, especially Hoosick St. but I loved having you, and hope to see you in the future!Tina

Quirky wonderful place in Troy New york
This a quirky old style. B and B. There are many common rooms, and guests are invited to use the, chat with the other guests and with the owner herself. Our bathroom was private and just down the hall- it locked to ensure that no other guests used it. The breakfast was plentiful, tasty and made to order. The house is beautiful, well cared forever, and obviously lived in by the host.

Better than a hotel!
Old Judge Mansion is a BEAUTIFUL home, loaded with wonderful antiques and architecture. I stayed there with my son for a trip to Rensselaer Polytechnic, which is close by. During our stay, the inn was not full to capacity so we did not have to share a bathroom, but it would have been fine even if we did. Our room was comfortable and easily accessible. We enjoyed getting to know our host and the other guests over breakfast, which was varied, plentiful and delicious. Offstreet parking was available, which was a bonus. No complaints and I would recommend to anyone visiting the area. Much better than a hotel!!

A very cozy B&B with a great host. Conveniently located with easy access to the Empire State bike trail. We were allowed to keep our bikes inside in the lobby. The Inn has the patina of age but is well kept. Cakes, cookies and snacks are available 24 hours a day. Included is a full hot breakfast! We enjoyed our stay immensely but we were very wary of the surrounding area. Downtown Troy has great restaurants and is only 1 mile away but we Ubered there instead of walking or biking.

It was a real treat to stay, even for one night, in this beautiful mansion. Parking was secure, check in a no brainer, room ready and AC going, the very comfortable bed was welcoming after a long hot day of celebration. Tina was ready with hot coffee and waiting to cook us a custom breakfast along with assorted plentiful goodies. An expert on the Troy area, she regaled us with inside stories. We will definitely stay there again! Thanks, Tina

Upon arrival, the building looked interesting. The off street parking was nice. At closer inspection, the building has not been cared for. Window boxes were left with dead plants, stuff was lying around the house, Looking in the windows they were loaded with “stuff” , the front steps had not been swept; very uninviting. The owner did greet us. She tried to be nice, but also shared our most of her gas made her crazy with their requests and needs. The house was cluttered with stuff it was disorganized and messy. For example a case of Diet Coke was at the guest sign in book. There are private bathrooms but they are down the hall from the bedrooms. All of the bedding needs to be updated, there was an ironing board open in the sitting room,a wall of VHS tapes that are years and years old, and stuff everywhere. The beds looked like they were 100 years old. In the bathroom, the towels were thread bare. I opened the closet door to find more stuff thrown into the closet. I saw a dog dish, towels thrown in there, partially used hemorrhoid cream tubes, and other stuff I couldn’t even identify. We did not spend the night as it was unacceptable. I would never recommend this B & B.

Oh gee I would love to respond to this but there are so many untruths, I would not have the space. The Mansion was build in 1892 and most furniture is not 2019, B&B’s are not Cookie cutter Contemporary Hotels. What he describes as Clutter are Articles Guests find very useful to use while here, Magazines, Games etc. Lots of seating for Visitors of the Guests here. The Box of Soda he describes is actually the Box a Antique Filing box was packed in awaiting Pick up. If he asked I would have told him. Towels are not thread bare, they are Beach size very thick towels. Perhaps he looked at the Tea Hand Towels hanging close to the sink. And yes there is a Stainless Steel bowl in the Closet, one a Guest left and will retrieve they they return. And there IS a very large selection of VHS Tapes many of my Guests have donated to the Collection and they get very well used by the Guests here and get my greatest comments and are much appreciated. Yes the Ironing Board is open and set up ready to use. There was NO Hemmorroid Cream, that is a awful thing to say, but there may have been some items frequent Guests have left behind and I put them in the Closet for their next return. I have been in business 20+ yrs, I would imagine if things were as horrible as this sounds, I wouldn’t have lasted 6 months. Yes there are 2 Private Baths on the Hall for 2 Particular rooms and room with a in-room Bath of which he could have clearly Reserved. The Mansion is retrofitted to not change the beautiful Architecture. I am priced very reasonably which I am sure what attracted him to reserve here and I always have been, I would say 60% of my Guests are returnees who come over and over, love the free private Parking, nice Breakfast in the morning and close proximity to Downtown and RPI University, and yes I am a Sole Proprietor B&B and not a Resort.

Tina the innkeeper was great. Food was great. One bedframe was so wobbly that it creaked all night. The neighborhood is sketchy. I didn’t realize such a nice B&B would be in a scary area.

Thank you for taking the time for your Review! Neighborhood is not scary, the B&B is a123 Yr old Mansion in a very old City, and a Ethic Neighborhood, after all NYS is the Melting Pot of the US, where all are welcome. Unfortunately in new Suburban Planned Neighborhoods you won’t find Zoning allowances for B&B’s, nor a old Elegant Mansion from our very Wealthy days. B&B’s are the Great-Great Grandchildren of the old Stage Coach stops.

Historical building preserved for all to use. The owner is a wonderful hostess, and the setting for breakfast is in the line of Downton Abbey, with all the china and set up. The Drawing Room is an excellent place to relax and read.

T-Bird Motor Lodge I really liked this place and especially the manager. He was SUCH a nice, friendly accommodating man. Very “old-school,” single story, motel. The room felt like it had been recently renovated. Everything seemed clean and new. The room had all the amenities you could want. We had a room on the back of the property where there is a very large, pretty, tree-lined, grassy area with picnic tables. No ice machine, but they have conveniently located freezers with bagged ice included in the price of your room.

Great, historic old home. Great breakfast, and Tina is a wonderful host. Parking is easy, and the location is close to downtown. The neighborhood is, as others have said, a little run down. I enjoyed the stay, and I can recommend it to anyone who loves historic places and great breakfasts. Why better than a sterile hotel, in my opinion.

We just loved our stay. Our son is an RPI student so the Olde Judge Mansion is very convient. Tina is an outstanding hostess and a wealth of knowledge about the area. Olde-Style Charm and Grace
The Olde Judge Mansion looks ordinary from the outside, but inside it's a treasure featuring beautiful tiger-oak woodwork and lovely period furnishings. We chose a room in the back of the mansion that was said to be quiet and found it as advertised. Our bathroom was across the hall, and we were okay with that. Everything was spotless. Breakfast service and tips from the innkeeper on where to eat and what to do were excellent. Our VCR didn't work, so we chose books from hotel, and that turned out to be serendipitous--one book was so interesting that we later bought our own copy.
