I travel a lot with work and so deliberately chose a hotel that was NOT a Novotel, Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt etc These are great business hotels - but generally fairly soulless and bland. Maison Favart - is superbly located near the Opera House over-looking extremely quiet back-roads and a Dauphin's square. Apparently the building was the sleeping quarters of a prince or some other high-ranking gentry from 1700s. Very nice & very quirky.
Staff were friendly and helpful - don't under-estimate this - as it is not usual for Paris. Hakim offered us excellent recommendations for dinner and helped with taxis etc
Breakfast was limited but very good.
'Honesty bar' approach to certain things available throughout the day was classy and refreshing.
I would definitely recommend & will stay again!

The location is perfect, especially for first-timers in Paris. We were able to get to everything so easily from here. The Madeleine metro stop was just a block or two from the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I have just returned from 4 nights at Le General, having stayed in a suite with my husband and daughter. We had a really busy few days so didn't really make the most of the hotel, something we would try and make time to do if we were to visit Paris again. It was clean and well presented in a fairly modern, minimalist style. We didn't eat there but heard a fellow guest discussing how good the breakfast had been. The location worked well for us, just 2 minutes walk from Oberkamf metro station or 5 from Republique which meant that everywhere was easily accessible. Possibly not the most glamorous of Parisian locations but nice enough and the hotel was an oasis of calm. Quite a few restaurants and bars close by too. We had originally been unsure whether we should book somewhere cheap and cheerful(ish) but are so glad that we spent more money and stayed at Le General. Will stay here again without question and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.

Stayed here for a long weekend in October 2014 to see PSG v Bordeaux. Used the metro outside the hotel to get all over Paris but Notre Dame, Hotel de Ville, The Seine all within a 20-25 minute walk of hotel straight up Rue de Temple. The area round the back of the hotel is the theatre district and many Turkish cafes/restaurants which was buzzing at night. Checked in & out quickly & easily - very big, quiet room with 2 comfy double beds, modern bathroom with shower, balcony with nice view of side street, tea-making facilities, a safe - everything as advertised/requested etc. The hotel is huge and the room was a bit far from the lifts but no problem unless you're lazy or have mobility problems. The square outside was busy but not at all dodgy as some reviews suggested. The hotel front facade was under refurbishment which meant we couldn't appreciate its design but not a real problem and there was no noise from this. Didn't need to eat at hotel as surrounding area full of places to eat from French cuisine to usual fast food stuff. Paris is a great destination but staying in accommodation as good as this makes it even better. Would definitely stay again and recommend it wholeheartedly.

Thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at the Millennium Paris Opera for my honeymoon and my wife's birthday. The staff were both helpful and friendly. When the desk clerk discovered that we were honeymooning,he had champagne and sweets delivered to the room. The building and the room were both very clean and possessed a charm that we very much enjoyed and expected .Our first night we dined in the hotels restaurant and enjoyed an absolutely wonderful meal with knowledgeable wait staff who showed me the benefits of Cognac on steak tartare. We would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a beautiful place to stay while in Paris.
