"Beautiful setting for a romantic weekend."
As you pull up the long drive you cannot help but be taken aback by the impressive main building. Night or day it looks fabulous. We were greeted very politely at reception. Plenty of information given about the facilities, including well presented 'hand outs'. Enquiries made about booking a cab for the following day, we visited the Wychwood Brewery for a tour, cab booked there and then by reception. Dinner was delicious and fantastically presented. I was expecting well presented, but minimal portions. but the portions were just right. The waiter was brilliant, on call at all times without being overbearing. We were allowed to really savour our meal.Night was capped off in the, very cosy bar, the Gun Room. Breakfast was good, but like any Hotel it's advisable not to leave it to late. We ordered poached and scrambled eggs respectively which were great and brought piing hot to our table to supplement the buffet trolley. The room was in one of the annexes. Recently refurbished and a stones throw from the main building it was ideal. An all round fantastic stay at a very reasonable price.

"Great small hotel a mile away from central Oxford"
Not sure whether I've paid twice: via Expedia and at the hotel... Otherwise a great small hotel with breakfast, large rooms, well, a standard English hotel+. Next to X90 bus from Marble Arch Oxford bus, 15 min taxi ride from train station, 15 mins by bus to the heart of Oxford.

"Nice Treat!"
We booked this hotel as a last minute Cotswold getaway. We checked in for two nights, Friday and Saturday. We arrived late on Saturday so unfortunately missed dinner however the staff were more than happy to offer sandwiches or cheese board if we had wanted. We booked a superior double room (room 7), and it was lovely. The room consisted of a super kingsize bed, sofa, wardrobe, side tables, flat screen TV and the bathroom had shower and bath. The room was very spacious and very clean with a nice view of the garden. Breakfast was good quality. There was a continental buffet with the usual and juices plus a cooked breakfast menu to choose from all cooked fresh to order. We had one evening meal at the hotel and although perhaps a little more expensive than your usual pub dinner, the food was delicious and the the restaurant is the perfect setting for a romantic candlelit dinner. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would highly reccomend to all.

"Good Comfortable Hotel."
When my friend and I arrived at the hotel we were greeted warmly and after signing in was guided to our room. We had plans in Oxford so were only in the room for a short amount of time before heading out. We had ordered a taxi when we arrived and I noticed on the wall there was a notice advising that the hotel used a cab company to take customers to the town centre for a fee of £10. Thinking this was great we went to get the cab......half an hour later we are still in the cab and the charge is currently at £15...totally unacceptable. So when we got to where we wanted to go I questioned the charge and was informed because of traffic it cost more. I argued the point and we agreed on £12. I wish I had questioned this before I left the hotel the next day ( it had slipped my mind!). On a different note, the cooked breakfast on offer was not really to a standard that I would normally find acceptable, however there were quite a few alternatives, eg, toast, croissants, cereals etc. So overall I liked the hotel, very comfortable beds, but the taxi ride and the breakfast were a let down.

"Crown and Cushion"
The heated indoor pool is great. Breakfast was also excellent. The buildings are historically interesting and the staff very helpful. The down side of our stay was the fire alarm going off before 7am on two mornings - a rude awakening when you've got jetlag!

"Easy to find very convenient on a long journey"

The bathroom was modern and pleasing with a first rate shower. Overall I was highly satisfied with my short stay and would recommend this hotel. "Great escape close to Oxford"
I have had a delightful weekend at the Holt (lovely walks especially by the canal)before but this was a business trip. I arrived late on a very cold night and received a warm welcome which included delaying the bar closing so I could get a much-needed pint! Would definitely recommend it and stay there again.

"Nice, period hotel within easy walk of Banbury"
The first thing that struck me was the imposing building and spacious car-park, with circa 12 spaces under cover. Check-in was very pleasant with a really friendly lady on reception - Joanna. My room exceeded my expectations - for a single room, I had a nice, comfy double bed, plenty of hanging space, the digital safe in the room was a real plus point and a well proportioned and thought out bathroom. The public areas were of a good size and well upholstered, clean and welcoming I ate at the hotel on both days of my stay - the food was excellent and the service attentive. I was surprised to see how many guests ate in the hotel in the evenings - the restaurant was on average 2/3rd to 3/4 full. All in all, a very pleasant stay and one which I'm sure to repeat when I'm next in Banbury, later this year.
