I happened to stay in a reasonably large room at the backside where is quiet.
Mind some rooms in this hotel are in irregular shape and could be quite small (also facing the street). You can ask the staff to give a good room otherwise...

very happy to stay at this hotel again. staff very helpful and pleasant. cleanliness and comfort 1st class. parking available and park and ride into Oxford nearby. would have no hesitation recommending it to family and friends.
After reading a few reviews we were not sure what to expect however we couldn't be more pleasantly surprised. A lovely warm welcome from staff who couldn't do enough for you. Our room was fantastic with furnishings in keeping with the style of the hotel (maybe not to some people's taste if you are looking for a contemporary room). The food in the bar on the evening was superb and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was most satisfactory too. OK so there were some little bits here and there that fussy visitors could point out but nothing that could spoil your stay. Worth the price in our opinion.
The first thing that struck me was the imposing building and spacious car-park, with circa 12 spaces under cover. Check-in was very pleasant with a really friendly lady on reception - Joanna. My room exceeded my expectations - for a single room, I had a nice, comfy double bed, plenty of hanging space, the digital safe in the room was a real plus point and a well proportioned and thought out bathroom. The public areas were of a good size and well upholstered, clean and welcoming
I ate at the hotel on both days of my stay - the food was excellent and the service attentive. I was surprised to see how many guests ate in the hotel in the evenings - the restaurant was on average 2/3rd to 3/4 full.
All in all, a very pleasant stay and one which I'm sure to repeat when I'm next in Banbury, later this year.

I had a lovely stay at Mercure in 2014. The room was clean and comfortable. Although it's not terribly modern, it has everything you need and is more reasonably priced than comparable hotels in the area. Located on Merton Street just off the High Street, which is really convenient.
"Great small hotel a mile away from central Oxford"
Not sure whether I've paid twice: via Expedia and at the hotel... Otherwise a great small hotel with breakfast, large rooms, well, a standard English hotel+. Next to X90 bus from Marble Arch Oxford bus, 15 min taxi ride from train station, 15 mins by bus to the heart of Oxford.

Really nice little guest house about 5 mins walk from the train station and 10 mins from city centre. It was clean, comfortable and service was very friendly. I will most probably stay again next time were in Oxford. We even had our own parking space but next time were going on the train.
