"No frills, clean, accessible, free wifi, nice staff"
For the amount we paid, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. We were greeted with friendly staff all of whom spoke perfect English, helpful & accommodating. Room was very clean and well maintained. They changed towels daily and had the room cleaned before 12 noon. Basic bathroom amenities. New bathroom fixtures, although the thin wooden bathroom countertop had cracks. They served continental breakfast in the small parlor & it a very warm, homey feel. There's free wifi in the room
It is conveniently located: walking distance to Bellecour, between Saone and Rhone, there's a metro station just a few steps away. There are many places to eat nearby, and many choices as well- cafés,brasserie, pasta, brioche, fish and chips, etc, even McDonald's just across. There's a carrefour around the corner. It's 5 minutes away from Chez Abel, truly authentic bouchon for those who want traditional lyonnaise dining. Also in the area is a quaint antique shop, modern art gallery, fromagerie, butcher and sausage shop, boulangerie, and fishmonger! There are many schools in the area so you will hear constant voices of children and teens from the street if you leave your windows open. We didn't mind it and actually felt safe and secure knowing there are always young families walking around. If you don't like the noise, just close your windows. Best of all, there was a Benedictine abbey very close by and the Lyon cathedral about 15 minutes away for our daily masses!
