My wife and I and our 1 year old stayed for a night in a large 2 bed suite, which was comfortable, clean and in a great location, especially for shopping. The Astor is not a modern, bland hotel but it has a lot of character, it does feel a bit worn in places but I think the hotel offers good value for money and I'd recommend it for a short break. One thing they do need to repair is the lift, which wasn't working when we arrived with our bags and pushchair on a rainy afternoon. Besides that, the breakfast was ok and we enjoyed our stay.
I have stayed at another hotel in london that was more modern and less comfortable, so whilst it's not all that modern, I did have a decent sleep, and I woke up to a nice freshly cooked breakfast. I had an ensuite and that was just fine, no issues, hot water, towels etc. I never felt to warm or too cold so they were clearly on the ball with the heating. I would probably come again, as I rather like 'character' rather than a faceless. characterless place and I didn't get lost :)

The Fitzroy is a comfortable and friendly hotel located in a lovely area in the centre of London, close to excellent public …More
The place is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood and has easy access to main attractions. The staff member was very friendly, helpful, and responsive. The description on the webpage is accurate - although there is no lavish decor, the private room and shared bathroom and kitchen have all the basic essentials and all are clean and well maintained. I had a 6-night stay there and couldn't be happier with my choice. Definitely will consider to come back for my next London trip.
